Depends. When you study observation you generally want to observe real life and try and draw it accurately to become better att seeing relations between proportions, light and so on to eventually faithfully recreate it on paper. I'd consider your studies/copies of Klimt is more akin to a master study where you break down and try and understand an artists process and how they solve visual problems.

So, you'll need CSP, you'll drag the two things you downloaded from that link onto a layer, then you'll drag a model onto it. It'll lock onto the middle of the grid box, then you just have to pose them and play with the camera and the perspective will stay consistent and good.

Copying others artwork is how many people get their start in art. It's not really bad and has it's uses. I used to copy art that I thought looked cool and you can see some jumps in penmanship and lineart, you just tend to miss out on the deeper lessons that can be teached and then applied to your own art. But it does help with observation in the sense that you "see" in a different way than someone who doesn't draw. I can't speak for others on why they would prefer copying art instead of drawing from life or pictures. I just know that for me it helped my observation to start looking at real life and try and recreate it. I still do studies of other peoples art but with the goal of experimenting or learning new visual solutions.

THANK YOU! I can do one of these pages within a day "easy". I use a canvas of 5300px width, and 1500px height, to fit 5 or 6 panels, at such a low-res whatever I decide to draw it's bound to be fast, and kinda shitty gotta admit, lol. I use 4 basic layers: lineart, base colors (just a few selected grey tones), and 2 layers for simple shadows and lights(if needed). The backgrounds are just ultra-stylized hints of shapes, like a wall, a door, a window. If you cut corners like that, you can do anything super fast. This is just shitposting so it's ok. Webtoon creators do this, but they get away with it 'cause they write clever and funny scripts. I'm just a brain-rot coomer, too niche to build a following

Your idea could possibly be great when experienced for a moment but feel incredibly cringe after spending multiple hours on it.

Here is something to consider the average person will take a glance maybe a few seconds to look at your picture. Even art interested people like ic anons will give your piece a minute at best for the most part. You yourself on the other hand spent what one? two? maybe many many hours drawing. So it's going to be incredibly hard for you to understand what someone else is going to see in your work, because you are the furthest removed from a first impression of your own work as one can be.

No. Don't think in terms of two point perspective of whatever, think in terms of picture plane an lines parallel to it. Every object can be said to more or less have it's set of 3 orthogonal axes. If two of those are parallel to the picture place, then the third is perpendicular and that's one point perspective. If only one is parallel, then that is the vertical in two point perspective. All non-vertical lines that fall on a cuboidal surface defined by these axes will vanish on the horizon perpendicular to the vertical that passes through the center of the picture.

When no axes are parallel to the picture plane, that's three point perspective and I haven't done the math but intuitively I can tell that the lines on the cuboidal surface will converge on a "vanishjng circle", which is a circle that passes through all three vanishing points.

To be able to draw your ref, most objects are in 3pp, so you need to find any hypothetical line on hour paper perpendicular to each axis, which is parallel to the picture plane (naturally, this happens automatically on flat paper, since that is your picture) and then you take that as a vertical, draw a line passing through picture center there and calculate the vanishing point.

Two point perspective will not cut it.

after drawing it (poorly) I wondered why you would ever need the drill to be in the collapsed state
so I might just give the mecha a drill buckler without the transforming gimmick
but on the other hand, I think it would be cool for the mecha to be in a fight, block some hits, and then active the drill to punch through enemy armor which had been weakened by sword strikes
either way I like drills and I like shields so this is a winning combo regardless of the specifics

I try to use just use gesture + construction with people (though for difficult poses I'll compare my drawing to a photo or a magic poser model afterwards and correct) but a library of 3d objects to use as references for little everyday things/props would be really useful, cars, guns, etc., you can cheese some but not even most of them, pictures are 2d and finding new ones requires a internet connection or having access to the thing itself. There're so many things that you've seen hundreds of times but then when you try to draw em it's like, what does this look like again?

I am stuck on the first view and I don't understand why the box is wrong. This is 45 degree view so every convex edge should be the same length. I take the upper plane and multiply the lengths by cos(45) because of the viewing angle. I also project it onto the line, which is how I get the distances for the upper rectangle, which seems to be correct. The top looks so much better with the squish and how the straps flatten a little bit when reaching the middle of the chest before continuing the way down.
But the bottom straps still sag lazily and they go nowhere.
Her slingkini is very elastic and when elastics are stretched they thin out at the middle while remaining as straight as possible because of the tautness.

amazing dangerfield. the likeness is there u dont even gotta put rodney in the file name. if ur catching the aura/likeness of a person in a drawing then ur p much ygmi. try over characuratureizing some people and see how exaggerated you can get them while keeping them recognizable. theres some artists from MAD magazine who where really good with that stuff.
