One trick is to do the Reference Inset thing, where you paste a small picture of the character into genned image OR a blank canvas image, and then either inpaint the character's head/clothes/whatever, OR inpaint the entire blank canvas - respectively.
The latter not going to be good if you're using vibes though, since inpainting does not take advantage of vibes. The former might work, but probably not if you're inpainting whole heads/outfits.
Besides that, its about getting meticulous with details. Eye color, shape. Hair length (short, medium, long), hair texture (straight, wavy, curly, spiky), bangs style (https://danbooru.donmai.us/wiki_pages/bangs). Skin color. Skin details.
