they would have mortgaged the property anon. acreage is going for $20k-$50k an acre around that town and buying 400 acres for $200k is an extremely wise investment. the bank would happily grant a mortgage because we could have sold 20 acres along the road or pond for much more than $200k and still had over 350 acres of wonderland
