>The parts where he's "ignoring" people is when Zod outright said he's going to kill everyone so if he stops to do damage control Zod will just either attack Superman or Random civilians elsewhere
>Superman only kills Zod after he's about to murder people and literally tells him that he's not going to ever stop

Also I remember one review saying "the final fight between Zod and Superman has building after building collapse" and it turned out to only have one which is after Zod fires his lazer eyes around indiscriminately for the first time

It probably got a bit too action porn-y but it's not like he doesn't spend a bunch of the movie saving people seems a bit crazy that people got so mad over the destruction.
