From what of it I saw back when FE threads had relays it just seemed like it basically what you said, then they admitted to changing one story element, also they broke the Iote shield and they toned down what Tiki says to Marth about her loving him

But I guess it's what the modern FE fanbase wants, good thing the old patch is still around
