ODST should have more physics enabled objects. Staten has talked about how much time he personally spent placing trash bags and other small details around the overworld in that game, but all of them are static objects.
There could be a reason for that. From my experience with the Halo 3: Combat Evolved mod, halo 3 odst's ai simply cannot function the way it's intended with loads of space crates about. The pathfinding doesn't try to walk around them, they always box climb and get shot to shit. And because they move as a group, the whole squad ends up getting locked into the lengthy box climb animation.
Maybe they could've reset the ai back to halo 2 because the pathfinding worked perfectly fine in that game with the most havok objects the series has ever had.
