No idea.
I saw the art style shift and that half the characters are black despite being all white stereotypes and decided to skip.
I then saw everyone praising an advert for having a track from a modern German metal band, in this game about '50s Americana, saw the new dev was German, not American, and decided to double skip.
I assume they kept all voice files and didn't erase anything "problematic" because it's 99% problematic for modern audiences.
I think they erased the B-Movies from the game files? I remember hearing something about that.

Apparently the second game's remake runs like shit, is bugged to shit, and looking at the trailers... it looks like it has a lot of reimagined and new content.

I recently saw some multiplayer destroy all humans footage and went "lol, yeah it was that bad in the second game!"
