Brass Compass once again browses her tome. In full concentration, she doesn't seem to register when you make her gain half a foot in height.
"Alright, this should do it." Brass says after a minute or so. She stands and lights up her horn, her book still on one of her hooves.
There's a crackle in the air and a quick succession of flashes of light around the stone chest, which culminates in an ethereal shattering sound uttering in the torchlit room.
"I've done it!" Brass Compass nods to herself. "I dispelled whatever magic was on the altar. You two can safely take the gems. If you don’t mind, I'd like to let the statuette here. Since it has a mostly archeological value, I'd still like to inform the Seekers about this place. Consider it my share of the loot."
"Sure. This statue looks creepy anyway. But, Mmh…" Somehow, Bell Ringer looks unconvinced by Brass Compass' display of magic. "Hey, Hearty. How about you go first and take these gems out of the box for us?"
"Uhm, sure." You nod, and go fish the stones out of the box, sharing them equally between you and Bell Ringer. With that done, you can come out of the underground room. You explain the situation to the farmer, who sounds glad that you smashed down some undead down here. You receive your payment for the quest.
>You completed the quest!
>You gained 50xp and 20 coins!
>You sell your share of the gems and get 50 extra coins!
>You recovered 1 mana (you have 1/3)
"I'm gonna get myself patched, now. No need to wait for me at the tavern." Bell Ringer says as she walks away, a barely hidden sting of contempt in her voice.
Despite Brass Compass having dispelled the magic of the altar, you can't shake away an eerie feeling that makes the hairs on your neck stand on ends. Eh. That's probably nothing.
>What do?
>While you remain in Meadowburg you can visit Crystalyn, Blueberry or Board whenever you want.
>Have a drink with Brass Compass at the tavern?
>Visit any of the shops? As a reminder, there's a travelling cart, a bakery, a blacksmith and a general store in Meadowburg.
>Look for other jobs at the tavern?
>See the other settlements you may travel to? (traveling costs some money)
