I'm happy these soft around the edges movies are failing. I understand they're for kids, but so was Tarzan and that shit still had some edge to it. We need more movies to be daring or actually cool and not this "UWU" bullshit that we've been getting.

Besides that, companies need to remember they have to appeal to parents too. If the kids movie doesn't look at least mildly interesting to an adult, they won't take their kid to the movies. Again, Toy Story was that (in part because it taps into a specific piece of nostalgia for everyone), and Lightyear wasn't (they tried to make Interstellar for kids, no parent is taking their kids to that).
