I had one set with replaced brick - 3in1 Castle - instead of Light Bluish Gray 1x1 brick I got 2x2 yellow starting plate from Lego Mario.
I had one set with deformed brick - Barracuda Bay - 2x4 Light Bluish Gray had an error during plastic injection.
I contacted Lego and got replacements.
Many new sets have their clear plastic pieces badly scratched, some bricks are discolored and brittle. All new 1x1 slopes crack after one use. This and even more ridiculous pricing than before, with FOMOs and gambling on top, made me quit collecting Lego for now.

Nah, hairdryer can't do it. You would melt the entire thing before this can happen. It is simply a missing spot during molding, where plastic wasn't injected fully. It happens, even with stuff like Lego. This is the brick I got in one of my sets. Been collecting for years, only happened to me once. They did send me a replacement. Your figure should work just fine.
