KF2 had an arguably much warmer reception despite the dissonance from grindhouse and also a discernible early access period, having a good few things going like the gun porn and gore before making a few unpopular decisions like the versus mode, resistances, and the Zedconomy shit nobody asked for, on top of Survivalist just being a shitty filler perk to round it all off. It probably did just fine if the updates outlasted KF1 on top of having console ports.
