I like all of those. I love Battle Network. The collection is worth it for it being the best official way to play the later games, but if you have other means, such as the OSS recommendation, then those are fine too.
Other anons have already answered about the gameplay, so I'll add that if you're looking to try out MMBN for the story, the world, or its characters, also watch the anime (sub) or read the manga. All 3 media are different and have their own pros and cons.
