I genuinely think he wasn't "let go" but he actually left by himself. There isn't much need of him in the show since it's already got wheels and the show runner can probably handle the rest, and Neil probably is needed back in the gaming role. He is way too big to kick him out. They didn't kick out that dumb bitch who ruined the Witcher and she's nobody compared to him.
