AFAIK, Season 3 is being filmed. It's the Joel backlash that is causing them to do rewrites. They split and pushed up Joel's death so they could (like the game/2) push Abby's side of the story, but after Normies HATED Joel's death (just like gamers did) HBO now has to try to pepper Joel/Pascal in to keep viewers, which clearly won't work.
