Sonic's bigger because of the extreme cultural impact he's had
In the 90s, most of Sonic's problems were caused by SEGA's mismanagement, then when SEGA dropped out of consoles, Sonic was still in good standing (people wanted a Saturn Sonic) with the adventure games
Sonic only started to actually go downhill with 06 which is pretty far into his life at that point (15yrs) and don't forget that Sonic had: TV shows/cartoons, comics, an anime, being an actual mascot for a big company etc
Crash meanwhile had 4 great games on PS1 but Universal are retarded just like SEGA are, Sony was retarded for not making him an official mascot (or at least showcasing him more as part of the PS brand), and Crash INSTANTLY started going downhill the moment old ND stopped making the games
It doesn't matter what Crash fans opinions are of the post ND games but it's obvious their quality was hampered heavily even when most of the faults is again mismanagement from the publishers
TWoC was rushed and would be seen as poorer quality compared to other 3D platformers of the time like Jak 1 (made worse during the time as 3D platformers struggled during the 00s which is why they all became more action focused and edgy)
Twins is Twins, basically Crash's 06 with how much of an unfinished game that is and it also started the more wackier humor of Crash's personality changing into drooling retard
Sierra era radically changed Crash's art design and personality which still affects Crash today and caused the 1st death because of how non-Crash it was
Remake era crash was just a repeat, we relived the glory days, but then Crash got given to devs that radically change things for no reason and then he dies again
All the momentum crash had in the 90s was wasted by awful mismanagement from publishers, bad dev cycles, lack of extra external media, and it unfortunately happened twice
Imagine if Sonic had Sonic Boom RIGHT after 06, that's what happened to Crash and would have fucked up Sonic bad
