Frieren has the same problem as stuff like One Punch Man, when a writer makes a character too overpowered or too competent they often have no fucking idea of what to do with them or what where the initial premise/story could even go (thus betraying it) so they just start doing random stories that focus on whatever character they introduced and the title character barely shows up at all if that, you can often go entire story arcs in the manga without the title character doing anything or not showing up for many chapters just because the writer shoot it's own food with how powerful they made them, I think the only series to have a overpowered and overcompetent character while never taking focus away from the title/main character would be Eat-man, despite him killing every villain with a single attack they never once take the focus or screentime away from him, he shows up on every single episode and manga chapter unlike Saitama or Frieren, not saying that series is better but it did handle this issue way better
other thing that bothers me is something that I didn't notice that much until one anon pointed it out, most characters barely emote with their face and only make this expression -_- ,it is particularly noticeable in anime where the VAs for the main characters emote a lot on their delivery but the character in question still looks like -_- , the minor characters and villains who do emote end up feeling weird as a result since they have the usual anime expressions the main cast lacks and often their VA delivery doesn't emote as much as their face do unlike the leads who do use a wide vocal range, still those don't help as the minor characters usually fuck off forever and Frieren kills the few antagonists who emote (or tells them to kill themselves), even in the manga once they take the focus away from Frieren and the rest all the characters who basically became the main characters for a story arc and take all the focus still only make this face -_-
