Well, at least I have a damn good reason why Team Rocket would be after me... even before the Welding Torch may or may not have been involved in the initial scuffle/escape wherein I acquired my new squishy friend. This feels kind of like it's going to be Ditto's (first) headlining episode because I'm kind of drawing a blank on what to actually /do/ in Kanto since it's been so consistently preserved across the years that beyond maybe trying to pin down which variant this is closer to there's not really much I'd want to do this early. Like, I could honestly say the rolls are either for the Indigo League circuit (and quashing Team Rocket for a little while) or the named waifus in Kanto/Johto and it be about as impactful for the time being... but the team-building is gonna be a slog precisely because it's Kanto (and also that drawback), short of fanwanking that the rest of the world actually matters for some Wonder Trading or locking in to get some trade quests that happen to exist in this timeline done.
Genuinely weird how deflating going to Kanto is compared to the other options thanks to the encounter pool being kind of undercooked despite 5 whole sets of games to draw from. Johto at least has peak aesthetic and a slightly lower crime rate going for it. Though for a fun fact, the Pokegear only 'mons from HG/SS actually count as Common despite their absurd encounter method because the radio card encounters are set to 20%. So in Kanto of all places you can get Absol dirt cheap this jump compared to other pokemon jumps that go by stats or its usually lower rarity.
