>>96015309I've actually been thinking about that today. I finally settled on where I want to go with my Flugel jumper for jump 2. I eventually settled on Trinity Wonder as the place to go, since that serves as a good launching point for the whole 'travelling the multiverse' stuff without relying too much on benefactor handwaving.
But I also then realised that one of the main plot points of Trinity Wonder is that the sci-fi world they end up in is actually really low on ambient mana, so its really hard to refill. And the Flugel enter into a childlike form when they are low on mana. Meaning Jumper is likely going to spend most of their second jump in smol child-flugel form.
>>96015486>Jumper is likely going to spend most of their second jump in smol child-flugel form.Cute

(reposting here because I only got one answer in the bunker, and I need to familiarize myself with the source material so I want alternative options just in case)
Has anyone got some good companion and/or competition-focused Jumps?
I'm doing a thing where I'm going mostly solo, but eventually have one specific best friend for life that I get from a wolf and cub or childhood bully turned friend-like story. Someone I take on reluctantly during a Jump, whom I don't really get on with for a bit, before eventually forging a multiverse-spanning, century-lasting friendship with.
I don't know if there are any settings tailored to that, so I'm asking here just in case. I checked out Pacific Rim since drifting requires two people, but it's a lot more focused on the kaijus and jaegers (understandably so) and I think it's not a great fit as a result.
Not looking for a heavy power imbalance. Nothing master-servant. At its most imbalanced, I guess I'd take a hero/sidekick or ruler/noble dynamic. Mostly equal with different strengths kind of.
Sorry for rambling. I'm really indecisive and just want to find something for this but there's so much stuff in the drive and I'm unfamiliar with most of it.
>>96015774Oddly enough, the classic Yu-Gi-Oh! jump. You can use it as a jumping off point for all sorts of local multiverse shenanigans even if you don't get one of the 4 locations that involves significant space/time fuckery thanks to all but like 2 of them potentially playing into wibbly bullshit in the relatively recent glut of other jumps for the setting (read: approx. Duel Monsters anime era misadventures that may or may not go further back in time).
How is reddits Oshi no Ko jump?
Strike-chan, on the off chance you're still around is there any chance of adding the Castigator to the Sororitas jump?
Tanks are cool.
>>96015447Man. The Spot was really cool.
>>96016042The OG Spot was a dweeb who was smart enough to realize that he had no place in the superhero/supervillain game and dropped out of it entirely after a single hit, and I hate that they dragged him back and ruined his very limited character afterwards
They do give him some neat shit though
>>96016061I like the Spiderman animated series spot a good bit too. Kept some of that goofiness while making him a bit of a threat too.
>>96015774First thing that comes to mind is pokemon jumps, with their rivals, competition to become champion, two different cover legendaries so you can get one each...
Saint Seiya has an Eternal Rival perk
DxD has a Rival drawback and you can companion them after the jump, as well as the Eternal Rival At Clubroom background. Which has perks getting matching powerups whenever your chosen rival gets one, or winning clashes between opposite effects.
What are good jumps for making multiple relationships seem normal?
Be it because a perk, because there is a civilization like Jurai in Tenchi Muyo where multiple marriages aren't that uncommon, or something else.
>>96015774Random idea that came to mind for you and your rival.
Go to Re:Zero and become/support two different candidates for the Royal Selection, but still banding together against the Witch Cult.
>>96016102A Parallel World With a 1:39 Male to Female Ratio Is Unexpectedly Normal has everything you would need.
>This world isn’t “real”. You can tell that. Even though you can’t articulate exactly how, you know that this world and even your entire adventure is like some kind of game controlled by a higher power. You can now communicate directly to that higher power though if they’ll respond is anyone’s guess. Who knows, though? Maybe if you ask nicely they’ll bless you. *I’m sure we’ll meet very soon.
What does the I See You perk from Undertale actually do?
Does it make the Undertale world more meta? Does it allow you to perceive gods and eldritch beings? What would it do in future jumps/are the any other jumps where it would have an interesting effect? How would you use it?
I don't know, I can't manage to settle on a satisfactory interpretation so maybe some outside perspectives will help.
>>96016162It lets your Jumper literally interact with (You), the author/controller of the chain.
I want my chain already.
I'm tired of waiting.
>>96016102Pokemon.
No, really. Even in the Quicksilver Pokemon Trainer jump, the perk to make you a great Pokemon trainer says you have an expertise on team dynamics and group relationships that extends to humans as well.

You guys think a Kryptonian from the justice league unlimited jump / DCAU could hang with Viltrumites from the Invincible jump? I'm wondering if that's good enough flying brick ability to handle getting into fights with them or if I need to consider picking up something to even things out, like maybe the immortal power or battle beast.
>>96016314Maybe, if you take Fatal Five as canon.
>>96016314Based on just the shows you would get annihilated. Viltrumites are unimaginably faster and stronger than DCAU Superman. They're not planet busters, but Omni-man pretty easily deflected a meteor the size of Texas away from the Earth in the show and I'm pretty sure DCAU Supes does not have a feat that crazy. In terms of speed, they can fly to other solar systems and maybe even galaxies faster than a starship can. They don't go that fast on planets because they'd nuke the atmosphere of the planet they're on, but they can do so whenever they want.
>>96016248Honestly, just get me the fuck out of this world, please.
Will you Jump to worlds you know nothing about it for the thrills, anons? Or do you only stick to Jumps in universes you like?
>>96016404I usually try to at least learn a little bit about Jumps I don't know just so I can write stuff that would make sense.
There anywhere besides Metroid where I can get a suit of power armour with a Mind/Machine interface?
>>96016404I would presumably want to know by word-of-mouth that the world is thrilling, but otherwise yes. That sounds like an excellent strategy past the first fifteen jumps or so.
>>96016675Halo. Mostly.
Battletech. But you have to join the weirdo cyborg cultists and you will definitely go batshit insane
>>96016718>HaloDoes that actually come with a Mind/Machine interface? I thought the AI was in the protagonist's cybernetics.
>BattletechOh yeah, the Clans have that stuff for the Protomechs and Battlesuits. I forgot about that. The early stuff was rather sanity destroying, but IIRC the later stuff fixed that.
>>96015447Thanks for the build!
>>96016675I think the mech suits in that jump about the Posleen War have those? I can't remember the name of the jump for the life of me. It was about how a race of aliens, the posleen, were warlike and going around conquering everything and a bunch of other aliens from a sort of federation found humans to use as foot troops in the war because all the alien species were either utter dogshit at being soldiers, so averse to killing that even just pressing a button to have something else shoot somebody would drive them mad or had been mind-fucked as an entire species to be utterly incapable of fighting by a precursor race who recognized what utter and complete scumbags that race was.
I think one of the Armored Core settings had that sort of thing as well? Don't remember offhand which of them did. There's also EVA's from Evangelion but there's plenty of good reasons why you wouldn't want to use that method. You'd have to go track the tech down, or make it yourself, but they've got mecha that can mentally sync with the pilots in the Tenchi Muyo! setting, though it's all either lost tech from a precursor civilization (the civilization from dual parallel trouble adventure canonically existed several million years prior to the start of TM! canon) or in an alternate dimension (war on geminar, which iirc reddit has a jump for).
There's also Total Annihilation, the ARM uses cloned commanders that are cybernetically linked directly into their ACU's. Also they're not mechs but in Homeworld the Bentusi have direct mind-links with their ships, as does Karen S'jet with the Mothership thanks to all the cybernetics hooked up to her. That said that particular set up was like the size of a pretty massive room so not something you could reasonably use in a mech or power armor suit. Presumably the Tech Jacket from Invincible or the Scarab from Young Justice would also work for your purposes.
>>96016843>I think the mech suits in that jump about the Posleen War have those?Legacy of the Aldenatas. They actually have AI that manage most of the systems, and regular screens otherwise
>I think one of the Armored Core settings had that sort of thing as well? The AMS system is from Armored Core 4. It's not quite a mind/machine interface though, more a psychic boosting instinctual thing? You still need to manage all the physical controls, you'll just manage them very well. Also it can have nasty feedback that'll kill you.
>Armored Core, Evangelion, Tenchi Muyo, War on Geminar, Total Annihilation, HomeworldI was actually asking about power armour, not mechs.
Also War on Geminar is actually one of our jumps. It was made by DDAnon. I don't know why it isn't on the drive though
>EvangelionThere's also an option to get human analogue mechs with a spiritual mind/machine interface in Xam'd, complete with perks to actually make that kind of interface in other mechs in the future. It's a bitch of an interface to use though, requiring you to clear your mind of all distractions and keep it clear for the entire time you're piloting.

So fun fact I went to throw 1:39 into this mix only to discover it didn't have a supplement mode. Damn. Without it I can't throw angel academy into the mix either.
Anyways, I shifted from Oshi no Ko to Tokyo Mirage Sessions for some reason, mostly because I wanted my own idol company. Oshi is my second jump now. The new theme of this chain is that all of the idols who work for jumper are part of jumpers harem. And also I need to collect a shitton of singing powers so that I can have my idols be hilariously op.
I probably need to hit up symphogear or macross after Oshi. I don't actually know that many jumps with singing powers.

The Light is so incredibly powerful it makes no sense Sargeras didn't use it against the Void.
>>96017215Well the chain I actually work on starts in Ashigei Shoujo Komura-san, so probably there.
Oh look, WoW dataleaks in, I wonder what's coming at the end of The War Within? Might as well catch up on the lore while I'm at it-

Alleria:I... I'm not sure what to say.
Alleria:Locus-Walker was my mentor, my comrade, my friend.
Alleria:Since I first embraced the power of the Void, he was there helping me to control and understand it.
Alleria:He alone supported me when my allies and family pushed me away. He saw what mattered in people, for good or ill.
Alleria:He--He was my dearest friend. But when he died...
Alleria:His past with the Ravel, the secrets of his ancient fight against Dimensius... I was so angry at him.
Alleria:I warned him! I did nothing but warn him about the path we walked down with Xal'atath. He wouldn't listen.
Alleria:She killed him because he trusted her. Because he understood who she really was.
Alleria:So this is my oath. I will hunt Xal'atath down. I will find justice for Locus-Walker.
Alleria:I will prevent her from becoming the new All-Devouring.
Ve'nari:Alleria, to make an oath on K'aresh is no small thing. Are you prepared to take on such a vendetta?
Alleria:I am. I have seen the lengths you have gone to to fulfill your oaths.
Alleria:I will avenge my friend for all the good he has done in his long life. Even as I struggle to understand and forgive his evil.
Ve'nari:Then we wish all fortune on your hunt, Alleria Windrunner.
...
So uh, in tangentially Heroes of the Storm-related news, apparently we will soon learn Sargeras was seriously overthinking the Void as an existential threat.

Holy Sacrament gives me a superhuman body that can run faster than cars, bend steel, sense evil, and harm the undead with my bare hands.
Living Antibody allows me to conceptually scale my strength and speed up to whoever I'm facing. The scaling goes up to planet busters, so this means I should be able to solo anything in this setting. I should also be able to kill any uppity anons that wanna try and player kill me.
Brunestud gives me the ability to manifest a gigantic castle that I can live in and mold to my personal taste, while in this castle all of my stats and abilities are exponentially increased. A normal human with this ability would be able to lift a tank, so someone like me with Holy Sacrament would probably be able to lift a city with ease. Moreover, my powers now exponentially increase when the moon is out.
Beloved of Gaia gives me an affinity towards Earth that makes the world itself and the spirits born from it love me.
Seventh Holy Scripture allows me to kill conceptually immortal entities.
The Moon's Shadow gives me a loyal split personality. If I somehow get ensnared in an illusion, I can let my split personality take over and break me out.
The drawbacks are pretty rough here, but I think I could manage.

So dumb concept Im running with for my current chain is that everyone who was ever involved with jumpchain gets a chain as well. What proceeds is a bit of a scramble of various jumpers either coming together to form factions out in the multiverse or find somewhere to hide for the potential shit storm thats coming. After every Jump everyones sent back to earth for a day so there's opportunity for something interesting to arise during the down time.
>>96018153Does creating the original media on which a jump is based count as being involved with jumpchain? In any case you're looking at a psychopath rat race that makes the harshest of Xianxia look tame in comparison.
>>96018153Good thing I have a "cheat jump" that only I can take that I've never shared prepared in case of a scenario like this.
>>96018172Yes! It does. And it is a psychopathic rat race a bit. I'm sure theres at least one shard jumper equivalent that terrifies anyone who kept a semblance of there former self.
My current jumpers already judged the situation back homes unsalvageable and has made it a goal to try and make a sort of ark or demiplane for all the people he cares about. Before dipping out of earth stuff and hiding out in between Jumps.
>>96018153>Average Jumper moments abound

The only way I see this is if the jumpas are restricted to setting where omnipotence, close to omnipotence or something like that is not happening. Like low tier shonens like one piece.
Another example that is not Medaka is the Tensei Shitara slime jump, with perks like limitless potential, gettting power from allies and having no limit on amount of power, plus time travel abilities or simply the "I am going back 10k years and staying 20k of years"

A subsequent study of "highly intelligent women" conducted in 1974 by psychologist Manfred F. DeMartino found that 7% of the sample admitted to having engaged in various forms of sexual activity with animals, primarily with dogs. The author concluded that due to the figure being higher than in the previous study by Kinsey et al. (1953), more intelligent women may be more prone to engaging in such acts. This is presumably due to how openness to new experiences correlates with IQ.
>>96016326>>96016349nta but the JLU jump has stuff from the Fatal Five movie in it, namely the 31st century weapon and that one power that causes things you touch to explode, so presumably feats from Fatal Five would be relevant.

*Ki Potential and Basic Training (4 cp)
*Friends (4 CP)
* Friendz – Akira Toriyama (2 CP)
Drawbacks:
It’s funny how different things can turn out from what you expect, what you have been expecting the whole time. I had discovered a loop hole in my stand, Golden Fool, Not only did it let me endlessly replicate myself but after the copies were dispelled I got their memories. I ofcourse being a jumper sent copies off to go fill entire islands with copies to train enlessly or work on science to break my limiter or build gear to increase my power or improve my magic.
My companions and I managed to join up with Goku and Bulma and eventually we got to train with Master Roshi.
However in this time I met Akira Toryama. He looked like a cute robot guy. He was very nice and insanely powerful I had a copy ask him to train me. At first I wasn’t sure he understood what I meant because we practiced art a lot. When we weren’t practicing art we were going on adventures, mainly misadventures and getting in to comical situations. It’s funny but I came to treasure those times. The last jump and this one I had spent trying to prepare for some great battle or great crisis. I hadn’t given myself time to laugh really. It was good to laugh again.
>>96019366My Training progressed at an absurd rate, I managed to secure the dna of Goku, and king Piccolo and my power grew tremendously but that became a side thing. I got to meet Dr. Slunp and the andriod Arale. They were fun, Arale was insanely strong.
I drank the Super mystic water, climbed up the lookout and trained with Kami but again that was a side thing, I came to see my adventures with Toryama as the main part of the jump.
Eventually I defeated Frieza, my power had grown exponentially since I had arrived but if felt kind of meaningless.
I had fun and enjoyed myself, I even got my companions much to their relief to stop training and join Toriyama and me for more adventures.
Strangely Akira Toriyama stopped me one day and asked me a question I wasn’t expecting. “Why do you want to spark so badly?”
(To be continued)
>>96019374 I answered even before I had time to think. “I want to go home, to all of my homes. I want to have more adventures with the Planeteers. I want to meet Gura again and give her big boobs like she always wanted. I want to see Louise again and even Saito. I want to return to my first home and revive some things that I had that were to dear to lose yet I had lost anyways.”
At this point Toriyama looked human. He had listened intently and nodded a small smile forming as he did. “That is a good reason.” he agreed. “You know I love stories where the protagonist works hard and tries their best, not for selfish reasons but for genuinely good ones. I think your reasons are genuinely good and you have worked very hard. I believe you deserve a reward.” he told me.
I had no idea what he was talking about as far as the reward but I was honored that Akira Toryama though that of me.
“You see, there is a trick to this spark thing. Really it’s already awakened. However Jumpers are born with blinders on to that fact. It takes something traumatic to get them to look inward instead of outside themselves to find what is already there. Well, it’s time to open your eyes and look inward Jumper.”
For a moment I wasn’t sure what he meant but then it hit like a ton of bricks somehow I looked within myself and found and incredible energy I had never noticed. I looked around me and saw not only my surrounding but a Kaleidoscope of colors of realities around me. It was among the most beautiful things I had seen.
“Well thank you for keeping an old man company.” Said Akira Toriyama, who I noticed now had a halo. “It’s about time that I get back where I belong. It was fun. Thank you.” and with that he was gone.
That was how I sparked. Not with some great battle but just with a moment of true introspection guided by a great man.
>>96019366Congrats on ending the chain and sparking anon. Hope you liked it.
>>96019418Well at first I was really only doing it as an excuse to do some builds with some jumps I rarely used. That was okay, it it was fun. As I added more of a story to it it became very fun, I think the ending was the best part though, I feel like I really hit my stride there. So for the first time I have written a full chain beginning to end. After so many years here I am happy to have finally done that.
>>96017190>I was going to do the DBZ endjump but it is shit. It is retarded shit in fact. It needs a replacement badly.Try the HeavensAnon version.
>>96019441Nice. Glad your satisfied then.
>>96017190Donkey Kong, or Re:Creators if you take a certain approach. One is difficult but possible athletics scaled to jumper's overall potential/skill, the other can be theoretically be solved with a bit of scheming and diplomacy a below average student is capable of concocting - though it gets more difficult the more jumps you've cleared/more personal power you have since that will directly affect enemy behavior/numbers. There's also the Generic Light Novel one on SB that just has you waifu/befriend the avatars of every jump/gauntlet in your chain.
>>96019366>>96019374>>96019383I'm surprised you used the OG end jump for DBZ instead of the DBZ dupe (which is a proper jump and also has an end jump scenario).

Well, may as well shake things up by actually doing the random thing every now and then. In practice, the roll system for jumps is kind of ass since it's at odds with the rest of the gameplay systems. You either use it and have to burn more posts deciding how your build works after you get the relevant information, or you don't and it becomes extra baggage since you either paid to opt out or just chose from within the valid range to pay it the barest lip service. Doesn't help that here and a few other jumps all but force you to decide that before anything else since pricing is tied to something like your location roll. Guess I can post this snippet with the Warehouse build, but it's still going to be an issue later...
Gonna go for 4 or 5 different lists in rotation so there's a bit more variety. Roughly 5 normal, 1+ Generic, 1- QQ, 1 (other) off-site; some easy, some not. Semi-arbitrarily selected to curb escalation but hopefully not remove all risk.

Obviously I'll read it again when it's over for the sake of filling out the jump properly but for now I'll just post the WIP for anyone who's also following the story. Suggestions are appreciated.

>Were they a good sportsman?Uh.
Well, from MY point of view I was generously and patiently holding back against everyone in order to fulfil the scenario criteria, greatly limiting my avatar to the extent it was actually possible for it to experience biological death.
But from everyone else's perspective, I was El Hermano de Momoyo (Kawakami Temple background, Scaled the Wall, Fifth Heavenly Jumper, Tachibana Traits, PPooHA for the memes/to emulate how at the end of one route Momoyo and Haou decide to literally go to a higher order xianxia-like world since the current setting is too weak for them) and after shaking off the rust with a few days' of pushups, situps, squats and 10k running (no A/C) I ragdolled my cute imouto in a DBZ battle that was technically considered "martial arts" by the world's definition.

>>96021479>[6] Age: 15>[1] Region: Kanto>Starter: Ditto (Cinnabar Mansion)>Docile, often dozes off>3 IVs: HP; Defense, Special DefenseWell, at least I have a damn good reason why Team Rocket would be after me... even before the Welding Torch may or may not have been involved in the initial scuffle/escape wherein I acquired my new squishy friend. This feels kind of like it's going to be Ditto's (first) headlining episode because I'm kind of drawing a blank on what to actually /do/ in Kanto since it's been so consistently preserved across the years that beyond maybe trying to pin down which variant this is closer to there's not really much I'd want to do this early. Like, I could honestly say the rolls are either for the Indigo League circuit (and quashing Team Rocket for a little while) or the named waifus in Kanto/Johto and it be about as impactful for the time being... but the team-building is gonna be a slog precisely because it's Kanto (and also that drawback), short of fanwanking that the rest of the world actually matters for some Wonder Trading or locking in to get some trade quests that happen to exist in this timeline done.
Genuinely weird how deflating going to Kanto is compared to the other options thanks to the encounter pool being kind of undercooked despite 5 whole sets of games to draw from. Johto at least has peak aesthetic and a slightly lower crime rate going for it. Though for a fun fact, the Pokegear only 'mons from HG/SS actually count as Common despite their absurd encounter method because the radio card encounters are set to 20%. So in Kanto of all places you can get Absol dirt cheap this jump compared to other pokemon jumps that go by stats or its usually lower rarity.

>>96021801Nah, MC always trains his ass off and sticks to his principles no matter the situation, and manages to progress and win through sheer effort despite having basically zero talent. He's utterly opposite from Gohan.
Also he's the only xianxia MC I would confidently label a true righteous cultivator.
>>96021754>Any tips for priority genocide targets? On a big cosmic scale regarding the setting as a whole? Not really. Maybe the Future King but the story hasn't gotten around to fully exploring what the hell is up with them or why they're shackling everyone through the Immortal Cultivation system and annihilating anyone that tries to leave Mount Sumeru and the Outer Sea around it to the wider mutiverse. Arguably the Great Mountain Supreme Deity Gwak Am since he's a gigantic asshole and fully plans on destroying Mount Sumeru to gain the power to survive challenging the Future King but the MC has a personal beef with him and I respect the MC too much to suggest getting in the way of that.
On a smaller scale, Seo Hweol deserves death and worse but then again he has literally never experienced anything other than suffering and hatred so it's not exactly surprising that he turned into such a wretched motherfucker.
Maybe arguably the Radiance Eight Immortals but since their goal is to enforce equitative order and fair justice by genociding all True Immortals and carefully regulating who obtains immense power so assholes don't ruin shit for everyone you might be in favor of them instead maybe. It's very much a xianxia setting with all the shittiness that entails.

>>96017215I figure I'll go for RWBY, Hazredous Interruptions, Gunnm, and Halo to start off with? Do a bit of a power armour chain

Perks: I Should Be Dead By Now -300 900
Items: Iconic Outfit, Iconic Theme, Scroll, Cash, Xanthine -400, Aura for Everybody -100, Aura Implants -400. -900 0
I've always been kinda fond of Aura, even if canon RWBY's kinda a garbage fire. I also really really like Xanthine, since the thing offers an immense amount of power. All said, I've got a soul that's twice as strong as a normal person's soul, with cybernetics that increase my aura capacity fivefold on top of that, and a suit of power armour that halves my aura expenditure. It's definitely enough to keep me around and kicking for the entire jump. I hope
I'm actually going to end up awakening the Jam semblance during my time here. Which sucks, since I greatly prefer Represent. But I know that a Drop-In can awaken Jam without paying for it, so I'll end up working towards unlocking it.

Following the OG RWBY jump with Hazredous Interruptions, mostly to upgrade my Aura but also to make Xanthine able to boost my Semblance, while also significantly improving her inbuilt computers and giving her an actual fully fledged AI
>>96022357Gunnm
Origin: Wastelander, The Alley, M, 19

Items: Basic Equipment Package x2 (Wastelander, Civilian) -100, Heavy Tuned Winged Power Armour -500. -600
I'm not actually sure if the Heavy Tuned Winged Power Armour would be stronger or more durable than Xanthine, but it'd definitely be a lot FASTER than her, and fully flight capable. More important than that is that coming here lets me get Elementary Posthuman Combat, instantly adapting me to moving and fighting at superhuman levels, allowing me to leverage my capabilities a lot better.
I'm gonna have to find a jump to merge Xanthine with my new Power Armour though
Super Sentai Part 1
Origin: Drop-In
Drawbacks: Goofy Men In Rubber Suits +200 1200

I was originally gonna go to Halo to merge my power armours, but I remembered this jump's Transformation Trinket merging item can actually be used to merge things like power armour into the local stuff.
As a bonus, Xanthine is now a Super Sentai styled bodysuit instead of a normal suit of power armour.

The ENTIRETY of vol 4 is nothing but peak xianxia bullshit right down to saving face, acting like sociopaths, and all sorts of other general bugman nonsense and it's scattered all throughout the earlier volumes. The whole point of BoC (and even Virtuous Sons to a much lesser extent) is showing how cultivators look from an outside perspective, from people who have been disillusioned of the belief that how they're acting is simply the 'right' way to do everything by destroying basically everything around them, whether it's their fellow cultivators or the mortals. The story even goes to great lengths to stress that Fa Ram acting like truly righteous cultivators and an inspiration to everyone in the Azure Hills is NOT the normal way of the world at all. My team was an unfortunate cobbling-together of Pokémon I didn't hate but was choosing more for utility than for genuine preference. I chose Torchic because I like Torchic and it was cheap, same goes for Haxorus, Scolipede, and Archeops, but Zoroark was only there for illusion-making abilities and Jellicent was mostly there for Surf. Ah well, there are so many other Pokémon jumps that I can always go grab some more if I ever feel like it

>>96023336>Dude, they really don't act like regular xianxia people beyond the most basic surface appearance. The simple fact that they're willing to accept new information and change their behavior and methods when they're proven wrong alone is enoughThey change their behaviors and methods for the sake of saving face and retaining honor (also because Shen Yu would nuke them otherwise), not just because of differences in morality. And you're also forgetting that the act of "trading pointers" with Jin that resulted in him nearly being crippled/killed outright was something completely dismissed by the wider Cloudy Sword until they later found out that that he was Shen Yu's grandson, which had them /rapidly/ moving to course-correct because Shen would have fucking killed everyone in the sect otherwise. Even the kid who would later have "pointers traded" with him by one of the sect Elders is more or less said to have been brutalized until he died.
Yes, they assimilate new info and change opinions faster than people in the vast majority of xianxia. That doesn't change the fact they're still generally dismissive of mortals, only change when other stronger cultivators are there to threaten compliance or when their entire belief system is violently dismantled, and still treat systematic genocide or the brutal murder of those who deal a grievous insult as something not worth remarking on. Like, compared to settings like Coiling Dragon (which is filled with people who aren't total fucking cunts) and LOTM (which is called a xianxia despite not acting like one. At all), it's still pretty in line with how most xianxia folk act.
>>96023486Nta and cute dargons are alright, but I prefer true dragons to be so chadly in any settings they're in that the only people that could ever subjugate one to their will are the biggest badasses in all the realms. Pic related.
>>96023336>>96023338>>96024196>It's also unknown if the current Shrouded Mountain Sect leadership actually knows the fox hunt is a lie. The memories that show it was a lie are thousands of years old, back when the dude that murdered his brother was still aroundMost of the Elders weren't in on it, but during the civil war that tears the sect in half, many of the Inner Disciples who bought in on the lie and simply didn't give a shit about the truth ended up siding with the Patriarch anyway.
Also, a big point is that the sect was also demonically infiltrated and literally nobody in the setting fucking likes the demons beyond cultivators corrupted by them. The Shrouded Mountain was formed specifically to hunt down demons and rampaging monsters whilst embodying a righteous idea of strength, so it's not entirely surprising that they'd change once they found out that their supposed beloved founder was a kinslaying bitch who turned to the quick and easy route for power - even without the sword of damocles that was the threat of Shen Yu leveling the mountain to the ground in retribution for them letting demonic taint fester in their midst whilst doing nothing. Everything that happened ultimately comes back to their honor and reputation being a big fat fucking lie, which is everything to cultivators.
I find it really funny that morality in xianxia is so low that the standard for "not being like regular xianxia people" is like pointing at Queek Headtaker as a paragon of morality among the Skaven, or pointing to Malekith's bodyguard as a paragon of morality among the Dark Elves.
>>96024329I mentioned Virtuous Sons and one of the two MCs there, Griffin, is outright established to be an all-loving sort of hero who cares to the point it's almost considered as caring /too much/. He wants everyone to be the best they can be, he resents injustice, and the strong trampling over those weaker rather than lifting them up. This is what motivates him and Solus to try and reason with the Elders of the Raging Heaven to get them to see reason and not war with each other. They fail. Completely. Simply because the Elders hate each other too much to ever care about anyone else but themselves, so they immediately escalate to direct conflict and the entire city of Olympia and the vast majority of its population, sects and otherwise, gets wiped off the face of the map.
Saying that "they're not acting like regular xianxia people!" may as well be a set of buzzwords these days to dismiss stories people hate or are just too lazy to actually read. Because 99% of the time, the general populace still act no fucking different from any other xianxia, with the MC and their close acquaintances being the sole fucking exceptions.
Does anyone recognise the full pic version of this? I couldn't reverse search it with SauceNAO.
>>96024594Roboco, probably
>>96024454Griffin really is too pure for the iron world he lives in. Sol at least has the appropriate levels of grump, being a Legionnaire and all, but watching Griffin charging head first into danger and trying to drag the Heroes into following him was always kinda adorable (The phrase "Catch tribulation lightening in your teeth" he said always stuck with me). Which is why its kinda sad to me when not only did he get his vision of what he always wanted (and hated it), but was then forced to fight all those schmucks and realize "Man, this all sucks. Might as well jsut burn out my lifespan to month just to try and give these useless heroic cultivators a kick in the pants."
Watching Ptolemy go full sicko mode on the other Tyrants though was kinda rad
>>96021939>Also he's the only xianxia MC I would confidently label a true righteous cultivator.Song Shuhang from CCG would qualify for that as well, although that's because he remained as just some guy who got into cultivation than any proper cultivator throughout the novel.

Thus the least you can pay for it is 200 (BST = 175 ~ 245); which includes Shedinja and Cosmog, but both are invalid.
Going with last 2 digits of last post for the first roll for encounters because I forgot to increment the dice up when adding the floating encounter. So the relatively small explorer team's looking like Jumper, Ditto, Eevee, a Pikachu that's from Kalos, Wooper, and Charmander... Mystery encounter maths out to about a 15% encounter (50 - [Roll]~/2 = upper limit) to make it usable for most tables. As well as an Abra from the looks of it. >[4] Location: Treasure TownOn the one hand, this is going to be a nightmare since it's going to take longer to get any help from the Guild and that's time I might not have so soon in the chain since the jump says the whole game's gonna happen in the first year... which means dealing with Darkrai back when it was the premier threat among all pokemon. Though a guaranteed Dialga/Palkia encounter is an interesting Master Ball opportunity, let alone the other post-game dungeons. But man would they be grumpy about getting punk'd by human tools.
Savant's gonna be putting in crazy work with the stamina management and combat diagnostics but I feel like I;ll have to go full tilt into embracing shounen bullshit and/or the power of friendship to scuff the last few required wins - that's upwards of 39 different boss battles... and their accompanying Mystery Dungeons. Not that this gets any easier in the other starting locations if you account for content changes made in DX or that every region past Explorers has a discount Kirby boss of incarnate negative emotions gating the post-game because they didn't want to let any pokemon become as evil as Gen IV Spinoff Darkrai.
But once the plot's over, could do something less strenuous like be a wandering Explorer Team that has a thing for hoarding TMs/farming Berries since it's gonna be a while before I get another chance to do that again. Hopefully won't cause a running war with the Keckleon Brothers in the process of trying to stake claims or get in on some swap shop action. I wonder if the coinage for Kanto's pokebucks is close enough to PMD's that whatever's left in the account could be accepted here as Poke/P money... or if I could travel far enough to get to the region where the Mystery Dungeons have Looplets/Emera in them.

It's my Birthday today. How does your jumper Celebrate their birthday? Do they?
>>96031944Happy birthday, anon!
I don't think my Jumper's gotten that far yet. Her chain is pretty short, two of those Jumps hadn't even lasted a year due to circumstances, and she's been very busy in the remaining four. I think, when she does start celebrating her birthday, she'll make a decently big deal of it with a select few people and never mention it to anyone else.
>>96031944They've done 366 jumps, so they celebrate everyday.
Nah, but could you imagine?
>>96031944Happy birthday anon.
And there celebrations pretty simple usually. Depending on the Jumper there just have a cake with their companions if they have any.
>>96032000>spoilerIf you do the old Persona jump, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a new birthday because of the way the age roll works and the games beyond 2 having known starting dates since even without a stated year, you can track plausible candidates by calendar day.
>>96031912the link is in the drive.
>>96032000My jumper hasn't done that many jumps but he's definitely been born enough times to cover every day of the year (disregarding that all settings don't work by the same calendar)

If a low-power human jumper in the Overlord setting told Ainz "I'm not from your world but I am from another one" would that be enough of an in to not get instagibbed or is he going to get tortured, raped, beaten, eaten, shit out, set on fire, and whatever other ridiculous methods Ainz comes up with to draw information out of him?
>>96032369He's extremely paranoid, so he might attack you since from his perspective you're either a scheming player or someone who's from another world yet somehow already has info on him.
Even if he doesn't, you might not be safe from his subordinates. You'd be safer just staying away from him.
>>96031962>>96032041Thank you very much.
>>96032369>>96032439On the other hand, his paranoia also makes him be extremely wary of confrontations with those that he perceives as equals. He will try diplomacy first, as well as try to rein his subordinates in if he can help it as to not end with unacceptable loses.
On the other hand, if you are weak enough and have something valuable that he may benefit from taking from you (which may include your life), he is not above from taking it if you are not fully submissive from the start. At least for those that submit from the beginning he has yet to betray their trust.
>>96027485Then go be Robotnik, you can't lose.
>>96031944Happy birthday man.
My jumper doesn't celebrate their birthday or even know what day their birthday would fall on, which probably leads to that anime trope where everyone gets together to make a birthday for them to celebrate.

Two new friends on the squad and falling off the deep end into the numbers game... Definitely going to be glad for that Abra since it never hurts to be able to teleport a few zip codes or state lines away. Though I might need to get ahold of some spare cyber hands or similarly useful homemade ball-spider drone to type as fast as the brain actually thinks between all this and Savant... Odds are I'd just drop off the grid after a while short of popping into a city for parts or maintenance on the robots that I couldn't just do while sitting chill in the cosmic cottage, because drawbacks mean the hustle won't really be worth it and wanderlust's as good a distraction as any from existential dread.
Not sure if it's worth getting the cyber surgery since I'm introducing a point of vulnerability for what amounts to convenience, or if the android should be a body double or something less pragmatic in the event I want to actually make the traveling storefront an actual thing longterm instead of just some side research projects... Either way, should be fun if worrying to see if I can code new TMs now. Feel like I really should check to see if I attempted to catch Dialga/Palkia or Mewtwo since that drastically alters the methods available to me at the cost of slightly complicating the logistics with the pokemon team.

>>96033902>Age: 28 (20+ [6, 2])>[6] Location: United KingdomDerp on the age roll aside, this looks like one of those time to skip town situations. Last thing I need is some random thug or the Major kicking down my door (or more likely, blasting it and the flat said door was attached to with an RPG) because someone whose empire I could likely hack to a halt if not smithereens got it in their head they wanted to feel big again. Shouldn't be impossible to get to the mainland as long as I didn't spawn too far north since that stretch of water is passable by sufficiently determined human and I have a moeblob who can become any manner of supersonic flying creature that isn't going to look like anything they were expecting from a radar/satellite profile.
I suppose I could do the opposite and pose as a cute collectable while still doing the hacker gig because even in sci-fi land it shouldn't take much more than a falsified death and using the android as a front face for operations to keep most unwanted attention off any further endeavors. Just kind of hard to justify keeping in touch with the locals when it's not really bringing me anything I want and nature is no longer populated with all manner of strange magical creatures. At least that'd be a better reason to want a typing drone independent of any copilot assists the two AIs could offer. Fuck, that might actually be fun with a mix of hack and psychic-induced amnesia to employ on anyone that somehow does cotton on to the ruse... but I dunno if I'm up for playing with live fire when this could be a vacation jump compared to lord of nightmares conspiring to trick a god into deleting me from local spacetime. I don't think even full stacks on Iron Defense would make me sufficiently immune to bullets.

>>96034348Slavery is not just good, but a moral obligation in certain cases. A dominant civilisation that has a claim to a valid code of ethics, is guilty of inaction if it does not enforce those ethics consistently to the extent it does not tolerate deviation from a portion of the population unable or unwilling to abide by it’s laws. Furthermore, many times a civilisation has no option but to resort to a continuation of slavery by other means to avoid it’s own destruction (and the invalidation of it’s self-enforced ethics); the industrial-military complex being one such example (notionally). And in the context of Jumpchain, the multiverse is replete with such races: Demons, fae, the Chinese. There are some beings so fundamentally anathema to prosperity and spiritual wellbeing that the only valid case for coexistence is to grind them firmly under a boot as Solomon once did. Conversely, some species canonically find happiness in slavery like house elves. It is not to say slavery is inherently bad, merely that implementation and targeting are often suboptimal.

>Blood Ravens Librarian Zuriel (100): While not unprecedented it’s rare for any member of the Emperor’s Angels to find himself within a Rogue Trader’s retinue, Zuriel has come to the Koronus Expanse after being led here by his readings of the Emperor’s Tarot. Judging from the Maw’s current state the threat he was worried about appears to have already come to pass, with him trapped on the wrong side to do anything about it. This is hardly a major problem, he has been away from his chapter for quite some time and there is always a threat to fight or knowledge to pursue even far afield of the Omnis Arcanum. While firmly loyal to humanity and the Imperium Zuriel is not without. . . eccentricities, included among them are a frankly outlandish capacity for the strategic relocation of equipment to alternative (locations those locations most often being your cargo hold as luck would so happen) and knowledge of how to safely store and even out right use objects of a. . . highly questionable nature without any ill effect; though there is certainly a harsh limit to this, neither you nor he are going to be swinging around a Daemon weapon without consequence, but merely corrupted artifacts aren’t much of an issue. Fortunately the Librarian has seemingly no interest in stealing from you and yours, though you may find that his presence seems to spread a familiar manner of oddly successful kleptomania within not only your retinue but also Dynasty and other organizations of yours he gets involved with; this doesn’t appear to be Chaos related but even so what kind of person would support such behavior? To my fellow Fate jumpmakers: It appears Indra is (a) Grand Lancer. As in, the story confirmed him as such.
I mean, fair enough. He's more overqualified than the Lion King is, and Tezca has soundly proven that being a Chief God is not an obstacle to being a Grand if the Chief God feels like trying hard enough to limit his own power.
>>96038952>TezcaYou mean Quirinus, who was also a chief god and Grand Lancer.
>>96038958He also counts yes, just bringing up Tezca since he's also a chief god in his own right and his basis for being summoned is creating a nerfed human body to be summonable as a Grand Servant at all.
...
>Wait, so why didn't R-Q have to nerf himself to be summoned-1. He did, his Servant profile mentions his "I'm a god" skill got nerfed from being summoned into his current container
2. It's ROMA, he doesn't have to explain shit anymore than Nero has to explain how she randomly got the power to talk to gods in the distant past while holding Altera's sword to get her super form in Extella's golden ending
>>96038952Also, I read the event happens in the first place because even while nerfed, him appearing on Earth caused the entire sky to collapse from his Authority over it taking place (he is a sky god too, but still).
So yeah, those went Divine Spirit in places like Oasis of Fantasy, Nirvana Yuga or Strange New World where you can get to Chief God levels should be very careful with just appearing in mundane worlds.
Kinda like how the fragment of Ishtar in Strange Fake just from walking around can collapse humans from the mana overflowing her body.
Being a strong supernatural in general from Fate makes you a complete walking hazard for the mundane human world.
>>96039083That is correct! Indra is absolutely an arrogant fuck, but he does more than enough to back it up. It's also one of those "we ship these two sworn mythological enemies because we're channeling heavy Supernatural energy" stories wherein it turns out Vritra can't stand the normal, almost Gil-level arrogant (except he can actually back it up), layabout, normal Indra but is super into the srs Indra that is his final Ascension. Also due to syncretism Indra is Raikou's dad or at least uncle or something and even Raikou realises it's kind of awkward
This guy also literally has EX rank Heavy Drinker and it's exactly what it sounds like because of his soma addiction. In-game it's even beneficial because it means he's healed more and gets 10% NP back when healed. He's somehow turned getting wasted into a superpower.
I'm starting to get the impression the Ultimate One ability to create what is basically a localised pocket dimension is more of a defensive mechanism for the local reality than strictly speaking an offensive armament, because holy shit with how even a crippled ORT is supposed to be harder to kill than Sefar it should've been tearing up reality just by crawling around
>>96039083>should be very careful with just appearing in mundane worlds.Or Bleach. That particular (set of) world(s) is just extremely flimsy and starts shaking whenever someone fairly weak by shounen standards flexes a muscle.

Generally speaking I prefer to deploy an avatar (represented as my current build) remotely, use it like a kind of lightning rod for my other powers and surround it with miniature constructs (femtomachines, golems, smol angels etc) made using local materials so I get a chance to study and optimise my new abilities before they’re subsumed into Bigger Me’s memeplex. In rare and unique circumstances such as Destiny, Majikoi and to a lesser extent the elves jumps/Make the Exorcist Fall in Love, either because I’ve decided to preordain a victory with Phenomena Affirmation or out of respect to a local entity I will limit my influence even further. It’s Anti-Spiral logic, if my enemies can’t even deal with some dude who just happens to be the local cheat sponge they will experience absolute despair when they realise he’s just one avatar of a higher dimensional godhead.
On the other hand, if I deem a reality beyond salvation or in imminent danger I will simply start generating wishes and speaking in reality-defining languages to restructure reality so the conflict can’t even happen.

>Give Me Tools And I'll Give you Grief>You’re the one thing nobody wants to deal with in a fight. Inventive. Normally when you get in a fight with something, you’d expect everyone to draw some swords and start swinging. But when YOU get in a fight? You throw a bottle of bees in their face, do a bunch of backflips while shooting them in the face with your bow, and then fuse a ruby to a stick and throw it at them while they’re distracted. Why are you doing that? Because it’s effective. Why is it effective? Who knows. Regardless, fighting you is a pain in the ass when you’re buck naked, and when given access to tools, abilities, or even fucking ghosts willing to do you favors you go from badass to a fucking nightmare to deal with because you seem to always know exactly how many options you have on hand, and have entirely too much talent at working those options together into a cohesive fighting style. You might need some time to experiment, and longer to collect the resources, but you could drop a damn meteor on your enemies if given a chance to set up properly.Any interesting ideas of good out of jump stuff to use with this perk?

No magic or shonen superhuman strength yet, but you are skilled enough and enough of an action hero that you make it work regardless.

The only approach that doesn't really hit a technicality is luck-maxing, but at that point it's hard to say if you're even hunting monsters since it'd eventually just be you existing in their general direction as they get BTFO'd by a cascading catastrophe of their own crit-fails. You could go the REMF route, but then you're not really doing much of the hunting yourself and there's a nonzero chance you defeat the spirit of the query since one of your battle-monkeys is superhuman. You could go the science route, but that's probably going to funnel into superhuman bullshit lest you just do dumb shit like intentionally cause planetary extinction events via sub-optimal resource allocation... and that it's better served by items since you'd essentially be getting gear carried anyway.

>All of these characters have superpowersThey're peak human for their respective settings.
If you want to take it a step further, you could use a setting like Pathfinder or DnD as an example of normal, peak humans besting monsters.
Fighters and Rogues are normal humans who've trained their bodies to their physical peak. They then use magical gear, magical weapons, magical armor, martial skill, tactics, and their own shrewdness to best the enemies.
If you go back to mythology, it's also like this.
Do you think Sigurd, Saint George, or Siegfried needed super powers to beat a Dragon?
Do you think Perseus needed super powers to beat Medusa?
Do you think King Arthur and Lancelot needed super powers to beat giants?
Do you think Odysseus needed powers to beat the monsters he came across?
If they did, they would've thrown up their arms and said "it's over", I can't beat them, because their stats are higher. But no, they didn't. They preserved. They gave it their all. And they won IN SPITE of having no powers
>>96044539>Odysseus To be fair, Polyphemus jobbed. Hard.

>>96044523All protagonists have plot armor. Sorry you had to hear it from me, bro.
The rest of their feats are simply them reaching their physical peaks in their respective settings.
>>96044530>>96044535>Is it thoughYes, it is an unfair extrapolation. Normal monsters aren't reality warpers or planet busters, so it's reasonable for a normal human in the setting to beat them

>>96044539I believe CHADmazotz would have been a WORTHY opponent for ORT even without turning into a GIANT BAT. In FACT since he was only REGISTERED as a Beast after striking a worthy blow and Nasu HIMSELF said he fought with a SPEAR not a scythe, it’s possible he WAS technically human during the battle.
>>96044539>Odysseus needed powers to beat the monsters he came across? But he didn't really. He fed his men to Scylla and sailed away, and he fed his raft to Charybdis and swam away. That's not monster hunting, that's monster feeding.
>>96044551>Not counting divine favor, peak human stats, and magical items as superpowers is retarded.None of that is magic, so it's all on the table for a human to use. Beating a monster as a human is all about using every resource you can find to help you win.
>does or does not the Dial-H for Hero dial count as a superpower?I'm not familiar with the setting so I can't confidently speak on this. A cursory glance at the wiki says that they can use devices to temporarily transform into super humans, so basically kinda like Shazam? If so, then yeah, it's a super power imo since your body is literally changing to become super human.
But it's a grey are imo. Because you could easily argue that it's just a too.
Green Lanterns suffer the same dilemma imo. Their powers come from a tool, so it's hard to classify whether they have powers or they're someone with a tool that gives them powers. Both are technically correct depending on your viewpoint

IMO they're simply tools. You strip the tool away from them and they no longer have their powers.
If you strip a spear or sword from a man, then his chances of beating an animal exponentially go down.
The same applies for a Green Lantern. Yes, they're FTL and can construct things with their mind. But their powers are contingent on their ring. If they lose it, then they're a normal mortal, unless they're someone like Sodam Yats.
No one will deny that Arthur is mortal, even though Avalon literally made him immune to piercing damage and incapable of bleeding.
No one will deny that a dnd or pathfinder fighter is a normal human, even if he's rocking a +6 ring of protection and an amulet of spell immunity.
>>96044600Skill + Action hero is still enough to beat normal monsters.
I was simply referencing how most heroes are capable of beating monsters even without magic.
I don't get why this is such a controversial statement
Is this nigga really talking about going to D.Y.N. Freaks and buying Al Azif/Demonbane because that doesn't count as using superhuman strength or magic?
>>96044587>Having magic items If you don't have magic items, then you really can't beat a monster that's stronger than mundane weaponry. Using magical weapons and gear doesn't make you superhuman.
>stats at the levels of those characters is way beyond normal human stuffIt's normal for those respective settings. The moment he jumps those settings, he'll get a body equivalent to someone in it unless he goes for the drop in origin. But if he goes in the drop in origin, then that implies that he has martial skills, tactic and iq perks, and magical loot that he can bring from other settings to help him.
Which means that he will have the resources and strength needed to fight monsters in the settings that he comes across, even a normal, peak human
>>96044622Magic users shouldn't count by the same logic, in most settings.
Take away a Harry Potter wizard's wand? 99% of them can't do anything and are basically helpless normal humans. Take away a D&D wizard's spellbook? He can't prepare spells unless he has a specific fear (only applicable to 3e/3.5e; in most, he just can't prepare spells period). Take away a ritual magician's magical circle or sacrifice? He can't do shit. Etc., etc. I can easily name a dozen similar examples.
All of this shit, abstractly, is access to magical effects. And finding/wearing a magic item is objectively easier access to magical effects than a lot of magical disciplines is.
>>96044635Doesn’t matter, ORT would still win.
>>96044641>He can't prepare spells unless he has a specific fearSo you’re saying being traumatised by ORT is good for D&D wizards
>>96044635I'm not familiar with Demonbane (I dropped it early on), but if the powers come from the mecha and not the pilot, then it's simply a tool that anyone can jump into.
For example, No one will deny that Char from Gundam is a normal human, even though he pilots a Gundam.
>>96044639>It's normal for those respective settings. So is having superpowers in a lot of settings. Which is why any non-retards use OUR WORLD as a basis for comparison, because "normal" by fictional standards is completely arbitrary.
>>96044622>No one will deny that a dnd or pathfinder fighter is a normal human,I will. A normal human can not run faster than Bolt, lift more than Bjornson etc. etc. The 65% oxygen, 18.5% carbon, 9.5% hydrogen, 2.6% nitrogen, 1.3%^ calcium, 0.6% phosphorous and various other trace elements that compose a human have real, physical limits.
>>96044629Your basic premise is right for relatively weak monsters, but all of your examples were blatantly superhuman, far beyond mere "action hero".
>The stone was a symmetrical block, indisputably cut and shaped by human hands. And it was astonishingly massive. The Cimmerian grasped it with both hands, and with legs braced and the muscles standing out on his arms and back in straining knots, he heaved it above his head and cast it from him, exerting every ounce of nerve and sinew. It fell a few feet in front of him.-
>He had already taken punishment enough to kill three ordinary men, but his bull-like vitality was undiminished.Like, how big does a stone block have to be to be considered "astonishingly massive"? Easily several tons, since just about everyone in every culture since the dawn of humanity has seen a big-ass boulder at some point in their lives, so it'd have to be pretty big to be astonishing.
>>96044641>Take away a Harry Potter wizard's wand? 99% of them can't do anything and are basically helpless normal humansI fundamentally disagree. Harry Potter Wizards are innately magical (as in they're born with it, while others aren't), even without a wand, they instinctively use their magic to save themselves. Neville for example, fell out of a window as a baby. He instinctively used magic to simply bounce on the ground, rather than go flat.
Moreover, every Wizard in the setting is capable of wandless magic. Most people simply don't train enough to do it because it's extremely hard and it's canon that most wizards in the setting suck at magic.
>Take away a D&D wizard's spellbook? He can still use cantrips and spell like abilities. High level wizards also use the permeance spell to walk around with permanent buffs.
A Wizard still also has all of their memorized spells even if they lose their spellbok. They simply lose any spell not memorized. They also have to make a new spellbook to replenish their spells, since, like you said, you need a spellbook to memorize and prepare spells
>take away a ritual magician's magical circle or sacrificeNot familiar with the setting, but...
If everyone is capable of learning it, then they're all normal humans using a tool
>>96044649>but if the powers come from the mecha and not the pilot, then it's simply a tool that anyone can jump into.Yeah uh, it’s complicated. The problem is that the power MOSTLY comes from the giant robot, but at the end of the original Demonbane story it turns out the pilots are also the past versions of the Elder Gods, who are the people destined to wield/create/be part of Demonbane.

>>96044660>>96044650Anon, he's a jumper. He's GOING to have the physicality of a normal human in the setting if takes one of the origins in a Jump. And, again, if he goes for the drop in origin, then he'll already have perks, items, and skills that can let him outpace any normal human in the setting. And yes, when I say perks, I'm only counting peak human and skill ones, so don't try and twist my words on that
>>96044684This is COMPLETELY dependent on the setting. If you go to Nightmare on Elm Street or Hellraiser, you can't just train yourself to be strong enough to beat demons. You're not getting any capacity for superhuman skills and have to just hope you're lucky. You can do that to a limited extent in Buffy and Supernatural, and to a great extent in Demon Slayer. But it isn't applicable to REMOTELY all settings, especially taking into account shit from the horror genre, where helplessness is the point.
>>96044672but can ORT Slash Emperor?
>>96044683A wizard can also cast all of the spells that he's memorized even after his spellbook is destroyed. He'll still need a new one to replenish his spells, but that's still clear proof that the wizard isn't a normal human anymore.
Qi, Ki, Chakra etc. are technically all open to a normal human, so they're not really super powers in the setting. Super hunan to us, but to the people in setting. Yeah, mortals see cultivators as gods, but anyone could train up to become a god in setting
Hamon is a super power because not everyone can have it. Same with Stands
Can't comment on the rest of the settings because I've never read or watched them.
My point is that a normal human can pick up a magical tool and thrive in a setting against monsters if he's smart and trained to his physical peak
>>96044697This is true. I won't deny this. A normal human in Nightmare on Helm Street is never going to beat the Dream Demons because they can't even interact with or fight them.
But for more traditional monsters like Orges, Cyclops, Chimera, Griffons, Ghosts etc. you could beat them with the right tools and skill
>>96044675I thought Char wasn't a newtype? A quick google search showed I was wrong and he apparently is. But I don't think he showed any of the abilities that helped with piloting, which is why he was so "weak" when compared to Amuro and Kamille.
Oh well, I suppose Char is a bad example.

>>96044711Then your perception of superpowers just isn't useful to me. Whether anyone can learn a power is completely irrelevant to me (and I suspect the vast majority of people) in determining whether it is or isn't a superpower. It's an interesting facet to consider, but if there was a setting where every human evolved Kryptonian powers, I'm not going to not consider them to have superpowers. It also seems like a weird thing to focus on when a lot of the factors that allow someone to be "peak human" for their setting would realistically be genetic and thus not learnable.
