I've actually been thinking about that today. I finally settled on where I want to go with my Flugel jumper for jump 2. I eventually settled on Trinity Wonder as the place to go, since that serves as a good launching point for the whole 'travelling the multiverse' stuff without relying too much on benefactor handwaving.
But I also then realised that one of the main plot points of Trinity Wonder is that the sci-fi world they end up in is actually really low on ambient mana, so its really hard to refill. And the Flugel enter into a childlike form when they are low on mana. Meaning Jumper is likely going to spend most of their second jump in smol child-flugel form.

(reposting here because I only got one answer in the bunker, and I need to familiarize myself with the source material so I want alternative options just in case)

Has anyone got some good companion and/or competition-focused Jumps?

I'm doing a thing where I'm going mostly solo, but eventually have one specific best friend for life that I get from a wolf and cub or childhood bully turned friend-like story. Someone I take on reluctantly during a Jump, whom I don't really get on with for a bit, before eventually forging a multiverse-spanning, century-lasting friendship with.

I don't know if there are any settings tailored to that, so I'm asking here just in case. I checked out Pacific Rim since drifting requires two people, but it's a lot more focused on the kaijus and jaegers (understandably so) and I think it's not a great fit as a result.

Not looking for a heavy power imbalance. Nothing master-servant. At its most imbalanced, I guess I'd take a hero/sidekick or ruler/noble dynamic. Mostly equal with different strengths kind of.

Sorry for rambling. I'm really indecisive and just want to find something for this but there's so much stuff in the drive and I'm unfamiliar with most of it.

Oddly enough, the classic Yu-Gi-Oh! jump. You can use it as a jumping off point for all sorts of local multiverse shenanigans even if you don't get one of the 4 locations that involves significant space/time fuckery thanks to all but like 2 of them potentially playing into wibbly bullshit in the relatively recent glut of other jumps for the setting (read: approx. DxD has a Rival drawback and you can companion them after the jump, as well as the Eternal Rival At Clubroom background. Which has perks getting matching powerups whenever your chosen rival gets one, or winning clashes between opposite effects.

What are good jumps for making multiple relationships seem normal?

Be it because a perk, because there is a civilization like Jurai in Tenchi Muyo where multiple marriages aren't that uncommon, or something else.

Based on just the shows you would get annihilated. Viltrumites are unimaginably faster and stronger than DCAU Superman. They're not planet busters, but Omni-man pretty easily deflected a meteor the size of Texas away from the Earth in the show and I'm pretty sure DCAU Supes does not have a feat that crazy. In terms of speed, they can fly to other solar systems and maybe even galaxies faster than a starship can. They don't go that fast on planets because they'd nuke the atmosphere of the planet they're on, but they can do so whenever they want.

I think the mech suits in that jump about the Posleen War have those? I can't remember the name of the jump for the life of me. It was about how a race of aliens, the posleen, were warlike and going around conquering everything and a bunch of other aliens from a sort of federation found humans to use as foot troops in the war because all the alien species were either utter dogshit at being soldiers, so averse to killing that even just pressing a button to have something else shoot somebody would drive them mad or had been mind-fucked as an entire species to be utterly incapable of fighting by a precursor race who recognized what utter and complete scumbags that race was.

I think one of the Armored Core settings had that sort of thing as well? Don't remember offhand which of them did. There's also EVA's from Evangelion but there's plenty of good reasons why you wouldn't want to use that method. You'd have to go track the tech down, or make it yourself, but they've got mecha that can mentally sync with the pilots in the Tenchi Muyo! setting, though it's all either lost tech from a precursor civilization (the civilization from dual parallel trouble adventure canonically existed several million years prior to the start of TM! canon) or in an alternate dimension (war on geminar, which iirc reddit has a jump for).

There's also Total Annihilation, the ARM uses cloned commanders that are cybernetically linked directly into their ACU's. Also they're not mechs but in Homeworld the Bentusi have direct mind-links with their ships, as does Karen S'jet with the Mothership thanks to all the cybernetics hooked up to her. That said that particular set up was like the size of a pretty massive room so not something you could reasonably use in a mech or power armor suit. Presumably the Tech Jacket from Invincible or the Scarab from Young Justice would also work for your purposes.

The AMS system is from Armored Core 4. It's not quite a mind/machine interface though, more a psychic boosting instinctual thing? You still need to manage all the physical controls, you'll just manage them very well. Also it can have nasty feedback that'll kill you.

There's also an option to get human analogue mechs with a spiritual mind/machine interface in Xam'd, complete with perks to actually make that kind of interface in other mechs in the future. It's a bitch of an interface to use though, requiring you to clear your mind of all distractions and keep it clear for the entire time you're piloting.

Anyways, I shifted from Oshi no Ko to Tokyo Mirage Sessions for some reason, mostly because I wanted my own idol company. Oshi is my second jump now. The new theme of this chain is that all of the idols who work for jumper are part of jumpers harem. And also I need to collect a shitton of singing powers so that I can have my idols be hilariously op.

I probably need to hit up symphogear or macross after Oshi. I don't actually know that many jumps with singing powers.

Living Antibody allows me to conceptually scale my strength and speed up to whoever I'm facing. The scaling goes up to planet busters, so this means I should be able to solo anything in this setting. I should also be able to kill any uppity anons that wanna try and player kill me.
Brunestud gives me the ability to manifest a gigantic castle that I can live in and mold to my personal taste, while in this castle all of my stats and abilities are exponentially increased. A normal human with this ability would be able to lift a tank, so someone like me with Holy Sacrament would probably be able to lift a city with ease. Moreover, my powers now exponentially increase when the moon is out.
Beloved of Gaia gives me an affinity towards Earth that makes the world itself and the spirits born from it love me.
Seventh Holy Scripture allows me to kill conceptually immortal entities.
The Moon's Shadow gives me a loyal split personality. If I somehow get ensnared in an illusion, I can let my split personality take over and break me out.

The drawbacks are pretty rough here, but I think I could manage.

I'll start as Dio's considerably less evil brother and try to prevent him from fucking up too many things, protect my dog, and hopefully prevent Jonathan from dying at the end.

So dumb concept Im running with for my current chain is that everyone who was ever involved with jumpchain gets a chain as well. What proceeds is a bit of a scramble of various jumpers either coming together to form factions out in the multiverse or find somewhere to hide for the potential shit storm thats coming. After every Jump everyones sent back to earth for a day so there's opportunity for something interesting to arise during the down time.

Benefactor is an idea not evryone takes ( I dont) and can be easily exploited.
The only way I see this is if the jumpas are restricted to setting where omnipotence, close to omnipotence or something like that is not happening. Like low tier shonens like one piece.

Another example that is not Medaka is the Tensei Shitara slime jump, with perks like limitless potential, gettting power from allies and having no limit on amount of power, plus time travel abilities or simply the "I am going back 10k years and staying 20k of years"

It’s funny how different things can turn out from what you expect, what you have been expecting the whole time. I had discovered a loop hole in my stand, Golden Fool, Not only did it let me endlessly replicate myself but after the copies were dispelled I got their memories. I ofcourse being a jumper sent copies off to go fill entire islands with copies to train enlessly or work on science to break my limiter or build gear to increase my power or improve my magic.
My companions and I managed to join up with Goku and Bulma and eventually we got to train with Master Roshi.

However in this time I met Akira Toryama. He looked like a cute robot guy. He was very nice and insanely powerful I had a copy ask him to train me. At first I wasn’t sure he understood what I meant because we practiced art a lot. When we weren’t practicing art we were going on adventures, mainly misadventures and getting in to comical situations. It’s funny but I came to treasure those times. The last jump and this one I had spent trying to prepare for some great battle or great crisis. I hadn’t given myself time to laugh really. It was good to laugh again.

My Training progressed at an absurd rate, I managed to secure the dna of Goku, and king Piccolo and my power grew tremendously but that became a side thing. I got to meet Dr. Slunp and the andriod Arale. They were fun, Arale was insanely strong.
I drank the Super mystic water, climbed up the lookout and trained with Kami but again that was a side thing, I came to see my adventures with Toryama as the main part of the jump.
Eventually I defeated Frieza, my power had grown exponentially since I had arrived but if felt kind of meaningless.
I had fun and enjoyed myself, I even got my companions much to their relief to stop training and join Toriyama and me for more adventures.
Strangely Akira Toriyama stopped me one day and asked me a question I wasn’t expecting. “Why do you want to spark so badly?”

For a moment I wasn’t sure what he meant but then it hit like a ton of bricks somehow I looked within myself and found and incredible energy I had never noticed. I looked around me and saw not only my surrounding but a Kaleidoscope of colors of realities around me. It was among the most beautiful things I had seen.
“Well thank you for keeping an old man company.” Said Akira Toriyama, who I noticed now had a halo. “It’s about time that I get back where I belong. It was fun. Thank you.” and with that he was gone.
That was how I sparked. Not with some great battle but just with a moment of true introspection guided by a great man.

Well at first I was really only doing it as an excuse to do some builds with some jumps I rarely used. That was okay, it it was fun. As I added more of a story to it it became very fun, I think the ending was the best part though, I feel like I really hit my stride there. So for the first time I have written a full chain beginning to end. After so many years here I am happy to have finally done that.

Donkey Kong, or Re:Creators if you take a certain approach. One is difficult but possible athletics scaled to jumper's overall potential/skill, the other can be theoretically be solved with a bit of scheming and diplomacy a below average student is capable of concocting - though it gets more difficult the more jumps you've cleared/more personal power you have since that will directly affect enemy behavior/numbers. There's also the Generic Light Novel one on SB that just has you waifu/befriend the avatars of every jump/gauntlet in your chain.

Well, may as well shake things up by actually doing the random thing every now and then. In practice, the roll system for jumps is kind of ass since it's at odds with the rest of the gameplay systems. You either use it and have to burn more posts deciding how your build works after you get the relevant information, or you don't and it becomes extra baggage since you either paid to opt out or just chose from within the valid range to pay it the barest lip service. Doesn't help that here and a few other jumps all but force you to decide that before anything else since pricing is tied to something like your location roll. Guess I can post this snippet with the Warehouse build, but it's still going to be an issue later...

Gonna go for 4 or 5 different lists in rotation so there's a bit more variety. Roughly 5 normal, 1+ Generic, 1- QQ, 1 (other) off-site; some easy, some not. Semi-arbitrarily selected to curb escalation but hopefully not remove all risk.

Well, from MY point of view I was generously and patiently holding back against everyone in order to fulfil the scenario criteria, greatly limiting my avatar to the extent it was actually possible for it to experience biological death.

But from everyone else's perspective, I was El Hermano de Momoyo (Kawakami Temple background, Scaled the Wall, Fifth Heavenly Jumper, Tachibana Traits, PPooHA for the memes/to emulate how at the end of one route Momoyo and Haou decide to literally go to a higher order xianxia-like world since the current setting is too weak for them) and after shaking off the rust with a few days' of pushups, situps, squats and 10k running (no A/C) I ragdolled my cute imouto in a DBZ battle that was technically considered "martial arts" by the world's definition.

Well, at least I have a damn good reason why Team Rocket would be after me... even before the Welding Torch may or may not have been involved in the initial scuffle/escape wherein I acquired my new squishy friend. This feels kind of like it's going to be Ditto's (first) headlining episode because I'm kind of drawing a blank on what to actually /do/ in Kanto since it's been so consistently preserved across the years that beyond maybe trying to pin down which variant this is closer to there's not really much I'd want to do this early. Like, I could honestly say the rolls are either for the Indigo League circuit (and quashing Team Rocket for a little while) or the named waifus in Kanto/Johto and it be about as impactful for the time being... but the team-building is gonna be a slog precisely because it's Kanto (and also that drawback), short of fanwanking that the rest of the world actually matters for some Wonder Trading or locking in to get some trade quests that happen to exist in this timeline done.
Genuinely weird how deflating going to Kanto is compared to the other options thanks to the encounter pool being kind of undercooked despite 5 whole sets of games to draw from. Johto at least has peak aesthetic and a slightly lower crime rate going for it. Though for a fun fact, the Pokegear only 'mons from HG/SS actually count as Common despite their absurd encounter method because the radio card encounters are set to 20%. So in Kanto of all places you can get Absol dirt cheap this jump compared to other pokemon jumps that go by stats or its usually lower rarity.

On a big cosmic scale regarding the setting as a whole? Not really. Maybe the Future King but the story hasn't gotten around to fully exploring what the hell is up with them or why they're shackling everyone through the Immortal Cultivation system and annihilating anyone that tries to leave Mount Sumeru and the Outer Sea around it to the wider mutiverse. Arguably the Great Mountain Supreme Deity Gwak Am since he's a gigantic asshole and fully plans on destroying Mount Sumeru to gain the power to survive challenging the Future King but the MC has a personal beef with him and I respect the MC too much to suggest getting in the way of that.

On a smaller scale, Seo Hweol deserves death and worse but then again he has literally never experienced anything other than suffering and hatred so it's not exactly surprising that he turned into such a wretched motherfucker.

Maybe arguably the Radiance Eight Immortals but since their goal is to enforce equitative order and fair justice by genociding all True Immortals and carefully regulating who obtains immense power so assholes don't ruin shit for everyone you might be in favor of them instead maybe. They change their behaviors and methods for the sake of saving face and retaining honor (also because Shen Yu would nuke them otherwise), not just because of differences in morality. And you're also forgetting that the act of "trading pointers" with Jin that resulted in him nearly being crippled/killed outright was something completely dismissed by the wider Cloudy Sword until they later found out that that he was Shen Yu's grandson, which had them /rapidly/ moving to course-correct because Shen would have fucking killed everyone in the sect otherwise. Even the kid who would later have "pointers traded" with him by one of the sect Elders is more or less said to have been brutalized until he died.

Yes, they assimilate new info and change opinions faster than people in the vast majority of xianxia. That doesn't change the fact they're still generally dismissive of mortals, only change when other stronger cultivators are there to threaten compliance or when their entire belief system is violently dismantled, and still treat systematic genocide or the brutal murder of those who deal a grievous insult as something not worth remarking on. Like, compared to settings like Coiling Dragon (which is filled with people who aren't total fucking cunts) and LOTM (which is called a xianxia despite not acting like one. At all), it's still pretty in line with how most xianxia folk act.

Most of the Elders weren't in on it, but during the civil war that tears the sect in half, many of the Inner Disciples who bought in on the lie and simply didn't give a shit about the truth ended up siding with the Patriarch anyway.

Also, a big point is that the sect was also demonically infiltrated and literally nobody in the setting fucking likes the demons beyond cultivators corrupted by them. The Shrouded Mountain was formed specifically to hunt down demons and rampaging monsters whilst embodying a righteous idea of strength, so it's not entirely surprising that they'd change once they found out that their supposed beloved founder was a kinslaying bitch who turned to the quick and easy route for power - even without the sword of damocles that was the threat of Shen Yu leveling the mountain to the ground in retribution for them letting demonic taint fester in their midst whilst doing nothing. Everything that happened ultimately comes back to their honor and reputation being a big fat fucking lie, which is everything to cultivators.

I find it really funny that morality in xianxia is so low that the standard for "not being like regular xianxia people" is like pointing at Queek Headtaker as a paragon of morality among the Skaven, or pointing to Malekith's bodyguard as a paragon of morality among the Dark Elves.

I mentioned Virtuous Sons and one of the two MCs there, Griffin, is outright established to be an all-loving sort of hero who cares to the point it's almost considered as caring /too much/. He wants everyone to be the best they can be, he resents injustice, and the strong trampling over those weaker rather than lifting them up. This is what motivates him and Solus to try and reason with the Elders of the Raging Heaven to get them to see reason and not war with each other. They fail. Completely. Simply because the Elders hate each other too much to ever care about anyone else but themselves, so they immediately escalate to direct conflict and the entire city of Olympia and the vast majority of its population, sects and otherwise, gets wiped off the face of the map.

Saying that "they're not acting like regular xianxia people!" may as well be a set of buzzwords these days to dismiss stories people hate or are just too lazy to actually read. Because 99% of the time, the general populace still act no fucking different from any other xianxia, with the MC and their close acquaintances being the sole fucking exceptions.

Fun Fact: until they release a pokemon significantly weaker than Sunkern (or Wishiwashi when not in Schooling form), it will always cost you more to get a new partner who isn't one of the default options than it will to import your starter in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon because the calculation for cost by BST doesn't account for an absolute minimum to scale down by. Thus the least you can pay for it is 200 (BST = 175 ~ 245); which includes Shedinja and Cosmog, but both are invalid.
Going with last 2 digits of last post for the first roll for encounters because I forgot to increment the dice up when adding the floating encounter. So the relatively small explorer team's looking like Jumper, Ditto, Eevee, a Pikachu that's from Kalos, Wooper, and Charmander... Mystery encounter maths out to about a 15% encounter (50 - [Roll]~/2 = upper limit) to make it usable for most tables. As well as an Abra from the looks of it. Decent enough start, aside from failing at pokemoning...

On the one hand, this is going to be a nightmare since it's going to take longer to get any help from the Guild and that's time I might not have so soon in the chain since the jump says the whole game's gonna happen in the first year... which means dealing with Darkrai back when it was the premier threat among all pokemon. Not that this gets any easier in the other starting locations if you account for content changes made in DX or that every region past Explorers has a discount Kirby boss of incarnate negative emotions gating the post-game because they didn't want to let any pokemon become as evil as Gen IV Spinoff Darkrai.
But once the plot's over, could do something less strenuous like be a wandering Explorer Team that has a thing for hoarding TMs/farming Berries since it's gonna be a while before I get another chance to do that again. Hopefully won't cause a running war with the Keckleon Brothers in the process of trying to stake claims or get in on some swap shop action. Two new friends on the squad and falling off the deep end into the numbers game... Keep in mind that Unohana and Yamamoto are the strongest Shinigami that aren't part of the Zero squad psyop and they haven't fought at full power for a loooong time. It varies based on the urgency of the conflict. Generally speaking I prefer to deploy an avatar (represented as my current build) remotely, use it like a kind of lightning rod for my other powers and surround it with miniature constructs (femtomachines, golems, smol angels etc) made using local materials so I get a chance to study and optimise my new abilities before they’re subsumed into Bigger Me’s memeplex. The only approach that doesn't really hit a technicality is luck-maxing, but at that point it's hard to say if you're even hunting monsters since it'd eventually just be you existing in their general direction as they get BTFO'd by a cascading catastrophe of their own crit-fails. You could go the REMF route, but then you're not really doing much of the hunting yourself and there's a nonzero chance you defeat the spirit of the query since one of your battle-monkeys is superhuman. IMO they're simply tools. You strip the tool away from them and they no longer have their powers.

I fundamentally disagree. Harry Potter Wizards are innately magical (as in they're born with it, while others aren't), even without a wand, they instinctively use their magic to save themselves. Neville for example, fell out of a window as a baby. He instinctively used magic to simply bounce on the ground, rather than go flat.
Moreover, every Wizard in the setting is capable of wandless magic. Most people simply don't train enough to do it because it's extremely hard and it's canon that most wizards in the setting suck at magic.

This is COMPLETELY dependent on the setting. If you go to Nightmare on Elm Street or Hellraiser, you can't just train yourself to be strong enough to beat demons. You're not getting any capacity for superhuman skills and have to just hope you're lucky. You can do that to a limited extent in Buffy and Supernatural, and to a great extent in Demon Slayer. But it isn't applicable to REMOTELY all settings, especially taking into account shit from the horror genre, where helplessness is the point.

A wizard can also cast all of the spells that he's memorized even after his spellbook is destroyed. He'll still need a new one to replenish his spells, but that's still clear proof that the wizard isn't a normal human anymore.
Qi, Ki, Chakra etc. are technically all open to a normal human, so they're not really super powers in the setting. Super hunan to us, but to the people in setting. Yeah, mortals see cultivators as gods, but anyone could train up to become a god in setting
Hamon is a super power because not everyone can have it. Same with Stands
Can't comment on the rest of the settings because I've never read or watched them.
My point is that a normal human can pick up a magical tool and thrive in a setting against monsters if he's smart and trained to his physical peak

But for more traditional monsters like Orges, Cyclops, Chimera, Griffons, Ghosts etc. you could beat them with the right tools and skill

Whether anyone can learn a power is completely irrelevant to me (and I suspect the vast majority of people) in determining whether it is or isn't a superpower. It's an interesting facet to consider, but if there was a setting where every human evolved Kryptonian powers, I'm not going to not consider them to have superpowers. It also seems like a weird thing to focus on when a lot of the factors that allow someone to be "peak human" for their setting would realistically be genetic and thus not learnable.
