The other big value of 文言文 for learning characters is that, since it’s monosyllabic, you effectively learn each character in its “base” form; while Mandarin is sort of like pushing 汉字 into a format that works with vernacular.
In essence, 文言文 is the true “language” that 汉字 are built for, while Mandarin sort of distorts it to fit the modern language and so for remembering the particular abstract meanings of characters it can be really helpful IMO.
With HSK lists for example, you might get 起床 as “get out of bed” and that’s gonna be much easier to intuit if you already know picrel (or any of the other many compound words constructed from these characters).

Sorry, my bad, I’m not learning Jap, I’m watching subbed anime for fun. Along the way I will presumably pick up *a little* bit of Jap. Also it was my foids idea as a way to spend time together so have sex incel.
