Man I loved the late 00s/early 10s. The absolute peak of bright-eyed millennial optimism. Every third girl looked like Zooey Deschanel. People read blogs. No one had tattoos. The culture was ironic but not post-ironic.
Law and order policing was still very much in force and gentrification was in full swing. East LA in 2010 was as safe as Huntington Beach is today. Froyo shops on every corner.
Trayvon and Gamergate hadn't turned everyone into insane culture war freaks yet. Facebook existed but "social media" as it exists today really didn't take off until IG and Snapchat launched in 2012.
By 2012 you could tell there was something rotten in the air, at least in the major cities. Something bad coming. B 2013, the wheels had completely come off.
But that era, about 2007-2012, was so unbelievably kino.
