Yeah I'll never have sex again
I'll never breed
I'll never have a family or happy life.

But even if I did, I wouldn't be this much of a niggerfaggot about it. Imagine literally trying to indoctrinate your kids into the same """fandoms""" you were part of?
My dad let me grow on my own. Showed me cheesy VHS from the 80s, introduced me to Star Wars and Trek but that was it. I grew into it on my own accord, and became me. Not some carbon copy.

No because he wasn't some golem that only values himself on his pop culture enjoyances.
His happiness was his, then it was seeing mine. Nobody else has ever actively listened to me rant about an anime they've never seen like that, with a smile on his face. He wanted his kids to be happy, regardless of if it made sense to him or was what he liked. His only concern was our safety.
That's parenting, and it's sad that it's admirable.

I care about those eras, they were cool with distinct music, styles, and important events.

Try putting on a fucking 2010's exhibit. At least for the 2020s we have AI.

It was in the news though; like there's a hundred things (OJ, MJ, Rodney King, basically all black people doing bad things, being bad people) in the news.

The 90s was an era of immense prosperity, so much so that people were "tired" of how good they had it and made movies like Se7en and Fight Club.
Star Trek TNG seemed less like an impossible utopia and more like predictions about the future.

Then 911 happened and for some reason in this timeline we decided to farm the arabs like they were Defias Bandits, instead of turning the whole region into the world's largest ashtray

I'm lucky I grew up in a town too small for a soibuster, so we just had grocery stores and gas stations with rental sections and one local rental place full of all kinds of oddball shit because they started in the early 80s and never, ever threw anything out.

Apologies in advance, guys. Us millennials are going to be just an insufferable as the Boomers were about their cultural touchstones.

We were grifted for like 40+ years that the hippie movement was something so significant, and that their boomer idols were somehow more evergreen than our own. Some millennials will recall a pre-Internet life, and will continue to side with the elders that things were better back then.

But that's not the same as what's happening in the OP. That's just masturbatory nostalgia. Yes, we went to museums and shit as kids, but a display of your fucking childhood "computer room" and "wired controllers" are not the same thing as seeing relics from early recorded history.

This is a fair point. I'm also a '90 and like to think I was completely sentient by like '97-98. But really, it's the people who were in their early 20s would actually have a pulse on those years.

It's just that the first ten years of our life were so wildly different from the next ten years, that we seem to really cling to the 90s. I mean, I was 20 in 2010. But in my heart, when I look back - I barely even feel a longing for those years. It was just a really gruesome time culturally, and just so unappealing after what we saw in our prepubescence.

Humans from all points in history will have great nostalgia for being a child, at the mercy of mommy and daddy. But isn't peak nostalgia supposed to when you're 20-ish? Finally a fully fledged adult, who can drink, drive, and have sex. Yet for somebody born in the early 90s, it's just not the case. We almost universally yearn for our pre-teen days from the late-90s -early 2000s. It's an interesting case study, methinks. It probably does have to do with the insane divide between society pre-and-post Internet. We miss the hopefulness of that era.

Man I loved the late 00s/early 10s. The absolute peak of bright-eyed millennial optimism. Every third girl looked like Zooey Deschanel. People read blogs. No one had tattoos. The culture was ironic but not post-ironic.

Law and order policing was still very much in force and gentrification was in full swing. East LA in 2010 was as safe as Huntington Beach is today. Froyo shops on every corner.

Trayvon and Gamergate hadn't turned everyone into insane culture war freaks yet. Facebook existed but "social media" as it exists today really didn't take off until IG and Snapchat launched in 2012.

By 2012 you could tell there was something rotten in the air, at least in the major cities. Something bad coming. B 2013, the wheels had completely come off.
But that era, about 2007-2012, was so unbelievably kino.

Yeah, I can agree with some of that. Though, I'm a pretty casual /tv/ guy. So my mind goes more to the /mu/sic of that era.

There was that delightful Chillwave summer of 2009, where everything just felt so good. Like, still a bit of that crusty DIY punk ethos, but slightly more playful and inviting. Just kids making hypnagogic outsider lo-fi pop on Garageband and shit.

But there was a more 'academic' (ie. white? eeeep) side to the indie scene too, and that's where you got your Zooey clones. It was actually cool to listen to like Owen Pallett and Joanna Newsome and wear wool sweaters. Vampire Weekend type shit, Nick and Norah's infinite playlist, Michael Cera

My parents already owned our family home by then. They had no real investments to lose. We barely felt any impact from a "recession".

The indian birthrate is actually collapsing and will probably drop below replacement around 2035

In a few generations the world will just be a mix of niggers and extremely inbred muslims

It's so bad. I think about my parents who are kinda like late Boomers, and they don't really try to preach that their childhood/young adulthood was some magical time. They genuinely seem to have nostalgia for the same period in the early 90s that I do. Which means, being a parent and building a traditional family home was peak nostalgia for them.

People 24-40 are so fucking infantilized now that they couldn't possibly comprehend this.
