The game is about Cyborg girls with high tech guns. Nier just fit the theme so much better than "redhead girl with Devil May Cry SMG"
It's hard to give a brief summary because the collab wasn't really that egregious. It was just kind of boring, though to be fair it was also the company dipping their toes in collaborations and learning what works and what doesn't.

Chainsaw man collab wasn't necessarily "bad", it was just too early and got the short end of the stick from the company's learning curve.
