Simple input schemes have been around for most of the genres life. You can literally trace them back to Alpha 1 if not even earlier. So this whole moral panic about them is completely overblown.

Simple inputs have been around for almost as long as motion inputs. It's nothing new to the genre, it goes back as far as Alpha 1, maybe even earlier. This is seriously not a big deal and I wish the people complaining about it would move on already because the topic is beyond tired at this point.
