>if you see the engine blocks of both aircraft they are very similiar including the transition between VTOL and Flight mode
Ah yes the cinematic of the aft engine part was uncanny, and you nailed it with this ref !
I always wondered why/how it was so similar... Speaking about the cinematic of the VTOL/Flight mode as you said ...!
But the fact that Yakovlev sold its design to Lockheed in the 90's... I was totally unaware of it... That's a huge tidbit there ! And so I better understand the similarity now ! Damn... Thank you !!!
>Naval Rotary Gunpod
Ah yeah, I was aware of the "Missile Meme" of the time, being memed into oblivion, "shelving projects" as you apptly said, and yes, before being able to incorporate a Cannon into the F4 airframe, they used a Gunpod/Cannonpod... I guess you were refering to that...
But regarding the British Electric Lightning, I wasn't aware of that... So thanks again !...
>I got to sit in a Mig-23 once when i was a kid in Poland so i'd say that one is my favourite aircraft
That must have been quite a fond memory to recall ! And yes, am found of Aircraft, but the Russian ones hold a special place in my heart too...
Didn't knew it before posting the Flogger Cockpit in reposne to your Flogger Versions pic, but I once had the opportunity to sit into a Mirage 2000C that was at a display stand in Eastern France, also really found memories too so I totally understand your take for the Flogger !!! :)
