If you have any creative ambition I would argue it is absolutely worth reading at least partially and used as a reference for things not to do in story writing. I feel it genuinely should be studied, how a creator who is so in tune with the culture of the time, who begins so ernest and passionate, with the talent and vision to set up intriguing and complex narratives about a recursive meta plot is able to just squander it all in pursuit of a larger, more modern audience.
