it depends. I don't believe you're gonna get spookied by taking stuff from abandoned buildings, but generally speaking it's frowned upon by the community at large. It's not a rule but more of a guideline for you to make your own morality-based decisions on.
Like taking a vintage keyboard from some absolutely trashed bando is fine, or taking some object from a building that's about to be demolished is fine. I often take small trinkets and stuff like that, but where people really start to hate it, and where a lot of us have a moral objection to it, is when you take some object that makes the place special. It's just shitty and ruins the fun for other people.
Another thing to consider is if you think there's a chance you are gonna get caught. Taking items from a bando can change your slap on the wrist or misdemeanor trespassing charge into a felony burglary charge instantly. It's just not worth it sometimes.
But at the end of the day it's up to you. Last time we were in an abandoned datacenter my buddy took a bunch of SSDs and harddrives from a cabinet and got mugged on the way out for his backpack. There are a lot of variables so just do what you think is right.
>Also, unrelated tangent, but have you ever gone urban exploring as part of a group, and then run into another group doing the same? Does one group start chasing the other, or do you just nod and move past one another?
Whenever this has happened to me it's been pretty chill. What you have to watch out for is scrappers. Those dudes can be methed out and aggressive.
