Still think you guys give too much credit to Dark City lol.
It's a good movie, but Nomura already had memory manipulation and having others memories in FF7 before Dark City. And to a lesser extent in FF8. And the Strangers are only really tangential to nobodies imo. Giant difference in that Nobodies were Human before, but the strangers are completely alien.
Not saying there's no inspiration but it's not that strong.
