In 7th grade, a buddy and i spread the rumor that a teacher at our school (who looked exactly like picrel, and didn't even teach our class) was a renowned World of Warcraft expert.
It persisted for years, and even in 12th grade i heard some random young kid tell his friend about that teacher being a world-class WoW player.
The man actually taught my 12th grade pysics class, and he was a genuinely excellent teacher. I still feel guilty for spreading that rumor.
