Nah, he's right, people need to drop the no true scotsman bullshit and remember how to have fun with games. As someone who played through first decades ago while fighting with the afternoon glare on my tv, the game being dark as fuck was never good for anything other than atmosphere (which was a strong point of both D64 and PSXD.) Playing it with glaucoma vision on subsequent playthroughs though is pretty stupid, unless you hate being able to see what you're doing. Or really like nearly black screens with occasional colored lights I guess.
