Gash Bell is the shonen with the most actually efective melodrama. It's used ad nauseam but it lands more often than not. One bit that always makes me a little misty eyed even remembering is when Momon is vanishing and Ellie is all like "I'm so proud of you, you've become so brave and strong and you didn't even hurt anyone all this time" god dammit that feels so real and so pure to read.
