Like Shadow Tactics? Yeah that could be really fun.

Personally I've had the idea of an rpg with a plot I came up with some time ago.
>You play as an assassin sent to support an Inquisitor in an imperial planet close to the Damocles Gulf.
>A local governor and preacher has recently been spewing borderline heretic stuff, and the Inquisitor highly suspects they've defected to the T'au and are trying to convert the whole planet through massive speeches that slowly get more and more subversive and populist, and are making the more Emperor-devoted officers disappear.
>After a tutorial of helping the inquisitorial retinue uncover some more proof to get definitive confirmation that the governor is in cahoots with xenos, you attend one of his big public speeches with intention to assassinate him.
>Right as you're about to go for the stab (or the trigger pull), the Inquisitor's ship, which was hovering over the city and from which he was surveilling, suddenly gets shot.
>The panicked crowd and the governor getting surrounded by their guard and evacuating ruins your attempt, so you try to extract and regroup with the Inquisitor, when the ship actually explodes big fucking time, killing everyone on board.
>It's a T'au attack, and they're indiscriminately killing everyone, including the governor's men. You manage to escape and find refuge in the sewers.
>The last surviving members of the retinue reunite with you in the sewers, and you set up a small provisional base of operations with the equipment you had pulled out of the ship. The operation must proceed, even if the Inquisitor is dead.
>But everyone is baffled at the attack because it makes no sense and doesn't fit the T'au methods.
>From here on the game opens up and you have to go to several places in an immense hive city and it's surrounding to investigate several clues, including spying on the nearby T'au base.
