If your physics are complaining about degenerate triangles that means you're setting the physics to autogenerate off a LOD that's way too high quality. You should look at your LI breakdown but chances are your download got better but your physics got worse.
Try setting a lower LOD and see if that helps. If you just need a physics box and you don't care much cause it's a small object, set physics to bounding box. If all else fails make a custom physics shape in blender.
See picrel for an example, the physics are just a slanted box. As for the LODs you can barely tell the difference between them but the tri count goes 1.1k > 0.5k > 0.25k and then the lowest is just 4 triangles cause that's enough to evoke the general shape of the object at a distance.
