I don't believe any ancient doctrines word for word but I don't discount the fact that they could've been hitting on something correct either.

So is dark matter, so are parallel universes. Our reality as it is scientifically measured is already insane. Our bodies are incomprehensibly complicated bio-computers, we still don't know how the electrical impulses of our brains leads to sentience and self-awareness.
Life is crazy. It is absurd. It is insane.
If you think the true story of the universe's creation is any less insane, you're the one putting blinders on. The only answer that can be correct is: who the fuck knows what else is out there, what happens to our sentience when we die, where our consciousness goes, or if there is more to existence than what we can physically measure.
Personally, I imagine all of our supposition is going to fall well short of the mark of whatever actually /is/, and then if it truly is nothing, well, you won't be able to feel disappointed about it so it's moot.
