Frankfurt school were Marxist, and tried to save Marxism, and post-structuralists (post-modernists) were also post-marxists. So people are right for seeing a connection to Marxism, but there's more.

The Post-structuralists loved Nietzsche. No one actually reads their bullshit, but they're applying Nietzsche's views on language, history, and concepts, and expanding upon them.
