I've always used my left hand even though I'm a righty, but it's not because I needed the right hand for anything else (I'm comfortable handling the mouse fairly ambidextrously), somehow it just feels better with the left hand grip.

It's a remake developed on the cheap, and the original game used prerendered backgrounds that were scaled for 480p viewing. Sure, they could have put more effort into reproducing the colours, but otherwise I fully understand why the game looks as it does, even if I don't like it either.
