If you land in Britain you can live off the land, champ.
At the very least you can do a Dieppe raid for destroying industrial areas along the coast and then leave.
I am more and more convinced that a small fleet of amphibious assault submarines like pic related could have change the course of the war in favour of the good guys with the funny cross.

Why nobody built them in WW2 ?
They seem to be the ideal weapon for the Axis powers since they allow to land an armoured force on an undefended part of the enemy coast without having air or naval superiority.
