The most reasonable take I’ve heard is that the “There is no client list or blackmail” nonsense is that it isn’t messaging meant for the public; it’s directed at the parties responsable in CIA and Mossad, telling them that the government will protect them and bullshit the public no matter what, even when everyone recognizes the obvious lies. In some respects, it may also be a “Yeah, we know that you know that we’re lying. What the fuck are you going to do about it?” humiliation ritual as well.
