I just wanna point out of course that 1993 - 1988, means you were a bed wetting 5 year old who given 4chan, likely didn't even know how to read or count yet, as you're still learning to form coherent fucking thoughts.
Anyone who isn't a dumb fuck would of course not find a fucking five year old a reliable source of examining social dynamics and demographics as "being there" there as much as being more interested in sticking whatever lead painted toy you found in the sandbox in your mouth.
And it makes sense if you're the one saying it wasn't about the arcade, cuz your 7,6,,8, and 9th birthdays at chuck-e-cheese's and shit must have seemed like a fucking ride playing the decade old games.
But as you'll notice in the graph... arcades were getting the squeeze... they were popular in the 80s, then had a small resurgence and by the time you were five, they were on the downslide which was noticeable... if you were... you know... there as you said... you noticed less machines, less new games, less arcades... not huge at first... but by 2000... shit was effectively largely gone, barring a small handful of known bigger places hanging on with what they had.
