Every time someone acts dismissive like this there's no longer any point in discussing the matter of character design with them. The two are not even remotely comparable but when you like the design you want to minimize the other perspective's legitmacy so you gotta act like they're sperging mouth foaming retards when it's the opposite. Yes, much of it is similar: but the face of a character is where character design changes are the most distinguished and the face is plain and simply not the same in any way outside of a vauge resemblance in the brow ridge. If you stripped this out and rounded out the hair, DK would not look like the same character whatsoever. He would look like a Kong, but not the same one, and that's how it is. Dk's face then, is part of the character. So when they change that up, it feels like a major change, rather than "blue arms" which are so negligible and out of focus most people wouldn't even notice.
