Only rich people should have bought the Switch 2 now, that is, people who don't feel remorse over $500. The Switch 1 will still hold its own until Christmas, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases a hybrid game at the end of the year (for example, Mario Odyssey 2, for both consoles), which would extend its lifespan even longer.
Instead of buying the Switch 2, I bought a splitpad pro from Hori for my Switch 1, and holy shit, it's infinitely better than the joycons (even though the analog sticks have no precision whatsoever), and now I'm playing my entire backlog in handheld mode until I completely exhaust everything I have on this fucking console.
