The buyer's remourse is kicking in. Mario Kart lost its novelty fast, and Donkey Kong, while fun looking I can see getting repetitive and it's existance may mean the real 3D Mario is at least another few years off. Having the optimal version of Prime 4 will be nice but holy fuck does it feel underwhelming compared to Switch 1s first year.

I refuse to believe that people were THAT excited to play Wii U ports, a barely-changed sequel to a Wii U game that came out 1.5 years prior (Splatoon 2), and fucking Arms.

BOTW and Odyssey were excellent but they were literally the only two big games in that first year.

And in terms of 3rd party support Switch 1 was abysmal to begin with. Literally worse than Wii U. All it had was indie games, which the Wii U and 3DS already had in ample supply. Zero AAA 3rd parties whatsoever.

Switch 2 is a poorly made product, I bought one early in the hopes of pirating on it. The MiG works on it, you while you will be banned you can play all your switch games with enhanced frame rates and loading times for free, worth the price of admission honestly. You get Mario Kart World at launch because it's been 8 years since the last Mario Kart release, and World was moved on to Switch 2 to take advantage of the new hardware.

You get Donkey Kong Bananza because Nintendo established a dedicated DK development team back in 2021 specifically to make new DK games.

You get Hyrule Warriors because it's been 5 years since the last instalment in the series.

You WILL get 3D Mario probably in 2026 to coincide with the 2nd movie.

But Zelda and Xenoblade are going to take longer because their last instalments finished development in 2022. What would people rather they do? Rush Zelda out for launch year and sacrifice quality of the game?

Launch Switch was balls software-wise OP I don’t know what to tell you. ARMS fucking sucks actually, people only played it out of lack of options, and BoTW simply doesn’t count; I played it on my Wii U since I wasn’t expecting to run into a Switch at Target a few weeks later.

I was so starved they had me out here playing fucking SNAKE PASS and Snipperclips (no offense to Snipperclips). I never really became a fan of the Switch 1 and I can see the Switch 2 won’t be worth getting for years.

Well after MK8's 2014 release they worked on DLC for the Wii U version. Then they worked on Deluxe for the Switch.

World didn't begin development until 2017 and was initially a Switch 1 game until about 2020ish when they decided the system couldn't handle their vision for the game and moved it over to Switch 2. This was all confirmed in a dev interview on Nintendo's website a few weeks ago.

Feels about the same to me. Year 1 of Switch started with Zelda and then had nothing until ARMS and if you didn't give a fuck about ARMS then it was nothing until Splatoon. What I don't get, though, is whether you actually believe that a product has to be flawless to sell well. I've owned console hardware before (Sony, though, not Nintendo) and I was completely taken by surprise by how garbage the actual hardware was. I had never in my life seen devices that low quality before that... despite that, though, many people used those consoles to play video games and loved them. Sales were pretty good.

My brother tried the TTYD remake on his steam deck and the game becomes unrecognizably black underground because of shader problems.
Yes, things get improved and bugs can be fixed. But that takes time.
