If you don’t swornbreak yourself before you refuse to release the deathfog, you get a permanent curse that can’t be removed even by the swornbreaker. There’s no way to remove it without going back before the save and either releasing the deathfog or going to swornbreak first. I get that it makes sense from a roleplay perspective, but from a gameplay mechanic perspective it’s just bricking your game and hoping you notice soon enough to go back.
