Yes.
I'm having to babysit my base from waves of enemies every time I rift back to base. The natural widl life attacks you from several fronts, but it seems to have 1 boss per wave, so I wait until my radar tells me where it is, rift to where the boss is and murder it, while my other defenses takes care of the other fronts.
I still have to see how the whole renewable resources work, but so far it is /fun/.
