Hmm I dunno about side-quests but yeah maybe stuff like the undyne date and true lab and just other things you can choose to do optionally during the story for the good ending, I don't want to be too handholdy but I don't want to make it too obscure too so most people just get fucked over with a bad ending. Yeah same with post game, maybe same like with how after you finish you can reload and go back find the extra events to do but definitely not like a real post-game, that's too much work I think. Thanks though, I'll keep it in mind.

>That's just a basic fantasy trope. The only new thing Undertale did in that regard was make the monsters innocent victims rather than an ancient evil.
Hm okay, I can't really think of many other stories with that setup but maybe that's just me.
>I'd advise that you start thinking about it, and all sorts of other robot/android characters that you liked since you're writing one.
Ehh maybe I can lean into neo-noire but the current setting I have is a bit more of a Nihei/Treasure Planet-ish kinda junkyard galaxy type stuff.
Rundown space stations and dead sector slums.
>Or Kris in Detlarune, you get a great sense of his personality just from how he chooses to act out the commands you give him.
Yeah yeah that's what I meant, Kris has a lot more personality based on how they're portrayed which is pretty cool.
But again I guess just didn't want to lean into the same thing again and copy it one for one.
>but could you at least give us an idea of what it would be similar to visually?
Here's my references for some general area stuff and one of the main characters (what I had left sitting in the folders anyway since I tossed some boards after being done with them), it's pixel art in game very similar to undertale in fidelity (some more detail in some sprites like deltarune but i'm nowhere near as good as temmie so I do that sparingly and it's rougher) and a bit more detailed portraits.
