I'll try to straighten it out a little bit.

Inspired by the Walther P38/P1 and the 1911, uses the same kind of DA/SA trigger as the P38, and then also a lighter alloy frame like the P1, so as to give something like the 1911 but lighter and combined with the quicker readiness of a DA/SA trigger.
It was basically exactly what the Army was looking for in a new service pistol, but then it was decided that the 1911 was perfectly good and that they weren't going to spend money on new pistols.

Special variant of the M39 for the Navy Seals, has a slide lock for quiet use with the suppressor, and a special frame using the Browning Hi-Power's 13rd magazines.
