I still don't understand why the Scarlet Forest's water is red during the fallows. I'm pretty sure the game wants to say that all the Lala Barina fuzz from their nests upstream causes it, but they also said (before knowing about the Lala Barina) that Erik drank the water and it was perfectly fine and safe.

Water filled with paralyzing spider particulate doesn't seem like it'd be fine and safe to drink.
