Its true, to a degree. But i find American comics too stiff, but manga maker often dont fully understand the western art canons.
The Japanese and Asians in general, don't get the deeper concepts of art.
Berserk is a good example, its good, but its superficial compared to Frank Frazetta for example. Frazetta knows where to put details, what to make white, or black, but Miura just puts detail anywhere, without any send for design.
P.S. Not sure whats up with the third big comic tradition, the Franco-Belgian. Never read a French comic desu.
