His "evidence" is weak and some of it (like no outgassing) is already been proven false by new observations. His paper is a thought experiment, a "what if" question. And he presents some things that would be great tactics for alien visitors. But even he admits he's probably wrong (so far he has always been wrong about his assumptions) and it's just an old rock.
