Ehh, I don't think animation should be purely aiming to emulate real life fights, there's nothing wrong with some spectacle, the issue is when the spectacle covers up the actual animation.
Seeing two light trails clashing and flying all over the screen isn't impressive or interesting, there needs to be focus on how the characters move during the fight, which requires a lot more time, effort, and skill.
Honestly, I remember when stick fights were super big and popular, I was kind of hoping they'd end up having more influence on western action shows, but it's a lot harder to animate an actual person than it is to animate a stick figure, so it's understandable that you can't really emulate a lot of that super well-done choreography and fast-paced action in "real" television animation.
