Anon, hitbox/hurtbox not matching the visual has been normal practice since forever.
Sometime on purpose for balance reasons, often not on purpose for "fuck it, need to release" reasons.
Fighting games can even be recognized by their specific style of "fuck it" with hitboxes, doesn't stop them from being playable.
Either use two boxes (one of the body, one for the head), or make a single large one that doesn't include the face but include the empty space behind it - the vast majority of players won't realize it, as it's already how most platformer approximate things.
